Hi everyone,

Need some help pricing up my 3.5 ton box.

  • Crew cab with 5 seats - leather stitched look nice if that matters
  • Outside tack locker
  • Lights, reversing and horse camera etc
  • 2012 box 2020 conversion
  • 130k miles on the clock and running great
  • Just had new brakes all round
  • Nice paint job with some minor body work scratches which I will probably fix before selling
  • Regant
I have absolutely no idea how much it is worth in the current climate. And where should I advertise? Never sold a box before and having recently sold a car the number of absolute chancers were driving me mad! Is it worth selling direct to a dealership of some sort?

Thanks guys!

Why not have a look on one of the selling sites? Plenty about such as Horsequest and Horsemart etc then possibly price slightly under the advertised prices if you need to sell quickly. Probably a better time of year to be selling. A dealership will price at a trade price - l once had one offering less than 50% of the price l sold for!

I sold mine 3 weeks ago to 1st one who actually saw it. I put her up on the local Facebook groups plus also 4 dedicated 3.5 groups. One public post on my page and i shared it to those groups.

I had chancers wanting to 'knock some off, can come with cash' - to which my reply was "come and see it 1st, I'm only taking bank payments" (this was repeated 7 times in 2 days!)

Big selling points were: Absolutely tip top mechanically, std carrying weight. floor replaced within last 2 years. test was a full year, good tyres all round inc spare, plus jack and wheel brace.
Didn't have a clear fibreglass roof (that is a pain in the rear for most). Didn't have lift up top door (s)

If you can stomach it, best to sell yourself, go through ads to see what is v similar, ask manufacturer if they could advise too.

Don't start low, you can always knock some off a week later.
Take 4 or 5 good photos - one each side (one with ramp down), one from front and 1 from rear. take plenty of others to add if needed.
Measure the length from cab wall to chest bar, plus height from floor to ceiling, plus groom section etc, there is always one who wants measurements for their 18.2....

To add, I don't bank on my phone, but I did add the app the night before the 1st buyer was coming.
They liked it, transferred me £1, it want in ok. Then they transferred the rest, that was good too. Then they taxed it before driving away.

Good luck :)

This gives me hope 😂 had 4 months of selling the car of nonsense!

Regent is a well known decent mid-range build and there should be several ads you can find to get a good idea
They seem to vary wildly! And it isn’t clear as to why some are more expensive than others! Potentially the necessity of speed of sale!

Condition/payload/mileage/region in UK/fixtures&fittings. You could call a couple of dealers and see what they would give you as you know you will get more privately

I’m tentatively looking at another 3.5t the prices are wild! Though not sure how many are selling, from the ads I’ve seen around the 20-25k mark seems the norm for that sort of age in good nick and decent payload. But then you see some priced much more reasonable so I’ve no idea what the ‘right’ price is!

Mind I think I’m going to get my own converted by my trusty trailer/ box guys as I think it would end up much cheaper to do…

There does appear to be almost a £10k price difference for not a discernible difference in the box’s!

I’m not in a hurry so may as well pull it out of thin air and judge the level of interest 😂

I would start high. Once sold mine for probably less than I could have got, had so much (I think mostly genuine) interest and it went to the first person. By that time I felt obliged to stick with the price, silly really.

Were they all crew cab? These are quite rare. And were they all private sales? Agree with @Abacus start on the high end
