I am sadly trying to sell S after 18 months as I have now outgrown him, I have advertised him on horsemart, in local tack shops, contacted the hunt etc. and have had almost no luck, I have had one person come to see him in 2 months, they loved him but decided he was just a bit too small. Looking on horsemart his ad only has 450 odd views. i feel the ad is pretty well written so I just don't understand why I am not having any luck.

Any thoughts?

pictures best u have? jumping pictures always attract more sellers, economy the now means allot cannot afford a horse/pony at moment (dont know what hes up for) allot of people loaning, buyers are upping price and sellers don't want to pay, may re word some of it (don't know what u put) to make him sound 1 in a million

ETA im sure right seller will come along its a waiting game

i think your dad needs to re think his logic :}
you could spend a small fortune keeping him while you
wait for a higher price ......false economy.
i too have a super fully reg sec c who we brought for £2200
6mths ago , now advertised at £1500 :{
and open to a offer to a good home.
no real interest,
what im saying is i dont think the moneys there for ponys.
good luck

My friend is also having the same problem! She has a wonderful mare for sale and she's just not selling. Time of year doesn't help, nobody seems to want to look after them, or have the expense of keeping them thoroughout the winter. The recession is certainly have effect, not just to those who have job/money issues, but a pandemic scaring everybody in not spending at the minute xx

I hope your pony gets a nice new owner soon, good luck xx

God I wish I could afford another horse...vet bill to pay off first and build up spending money for one....I'd love to give a new horse a happy long lifetime with me, it's just lack of funds thats stopping it right now!!
market is very slow atm...

market and time of year is crap! better to take a lower offer and nice home than have to feed and shoe and keep going and updating CV all thrugh the winter!

I know that my dad wants a bit too much for him, but the trouble is he won't take any less than what we paid for him, and we paid the top end of what he was worth.

Tell your Dad, from a professional Marketer and amateur horse seller, that a horse is only worth what someone will pay. What he paid for him is of no relevance whatsoever. It's clear from your lack of viewers that your price is too high.

I would get better pictures if possible and change your advert so it was similar to the following:

Registered Welsh D (mention bloodlines if they are well known)

Hunted last season with young girl and proved to be both sane and safe.

Well schooled with a super jump, has done all PC activities including camp.

Hacks alone and in company, 100% traffic, catch, shoe, box, clip.

Fun horse for confident child or mother/daughter share.

Also I think your asking price is too high and would be looking at around £3500
