I am looking at options for possibly selling one of my horses. She is 6 this time and would make a great eventer... I am struggling to find the time. :(

So one option would be sending her somewhere to be sold. I have never done this before and wondered if anyone had any experience or could recommend any one. I am based in the North West.

I HATE selling horses from home and dealing with everyone coming and I will only change my mind!!! TIA :)

Foxmoss Sports Horses near Audlem in S.Cheshire are very good. They do breaking, selling, remedial, rehab et al. They get the sellers out at competitions and have a lot of people following what they have on the yard.

They have good trial facilities too. It's a calm, happy yard, and they are very nice (and honest) people :).

They're on Facebook.

I have used someone I would recommend over and over. Based near Cirencester though. professional eventer, both male and female rider. Female also very good with the not so straightforward ones. Pm me if you want details.

I put my gelding on sales livery, I'd had him 6 years and just thought I was too emotionally attached as I found faults with a few people that tried him and the ones I liked had him on trial but sent him back through no fault of his own. The seller seemed lovely promised to find him a well matched owner, said they never sold a horse unless they were happy the horse and rider got on well together. They messaged me to say they'd found a buyer and that the buyer had one of their other horses would be a forever home and really loved him so all seemed great. I added the new buyer on facebook and that's when I got a clearer picture. The buyer questioned me on his beaviour and what he was like to ride begged me to be honest with her and admitted she had bought him without trying or seeing him! Had I known this I wouldn't have ok'd the sale.

The buyer continued to message me after he arrived, she started off saying everything was fine that he'd been ridden by her, her son, her friend and her daughter but next thing he'd bucked in the school and they hated him. For a while he was ridden by an old man out hacking (her friend) but after a year she sold him. I was unable to buy him back which broke my heart and when I asked if he'd settled well and if I could stay in touch with the new owner I was told 'he got what he deserved' that he'd played up with his new owner and she hadn't heard from them since but they didn't want to stay in touch with anyone.

I'm put adverts up trying to find out where he is but this really haunts me and I would never do it again.

Margaret Duggan from Duggan Equestrian http://www.dugganequestrian.com/ has recently sold Betty for me.

I bought Betty for eventing/ hunting and she was everything I hoped for, sadly her 17hh size hurt my back injury, and she had to go. I was in the position where I could not ride her for sale, so I sent her there. I have recommended Margaret several times before, as a schooling livery for clients, and she has backed or re-backed 3 for people I recommended, as well as schooling holidays for some others. She also sold a client's horse successfully.

It is not a big yard, Margaret does the at home flat work, and her daughter Chantelle jumps, including at shows. They both hunt too.

Although theirs is not an "event yard" they were second to none for time and care spent. In the 5 weeks they had Betty they refreshed her schooling (green 5yo), had her to three BS shows, clipped, schooled, did schooling videos, had us take photos, answered adverts, showed Betty and arranged the cash too. They were able to give me a low down on the rider, so I was happy. If she had not sold so quickly they were going to take her hunting, and I dare say to events too.

They are based in West Yorkshire.

Here is the sales video, so you can see the facilities and riders... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=banxMHlfOeI
