Anyone having problems selling good lorries? Ours has been for sale for a while now, its a 7.5 tonne and takes 5/6 horses, MOT etc etc etc... but no one seems to be buying? or even looking? In comparison to similar lorries it is neither cheap nor expensive. Anyone know of any good places to sell lorries?

Probably the wrong time of year - the polo people have theirs and the hunting ones haven't started yet

I am assuming its a basic lorry designed to carry the maximum number of horses? I would aim it at the hunting market, which should pick up in the next month or so.

Not sure where you are advertised but I am looking at the moment for a 7.5t and checking Horsemart, Horse Deals and eBay regularly.

So many adverts do not have the right information/photos though so trawling quickly becomes tedious!

My 7.5t (its a 2 horse with full living) has been for sale since mid June. Have had a few viewings - all were time wasters, one even offered 10k below the asking price for no reason at all. All i seem to get is people phoning me or emailing me asking questions that are already answered in the advert - if people took the time to read the advert properly then they wouldnt waste my time and theirs by phoning!! (rant over!!)

I think in fact we've decided now to keep it as im totally fed up of timewasters.

Ditto Tempi!

I have a very nice DAF & it's had 3 goes on eBay (no bids; timewaster/tyre kicker non payer; 'accidental' bidder/non payer) plus preloved & 2 or 3 other free sites. So far we've had one viewing & 2 more enquiries.

Absolutely sick of it. I NEED a 4x4, & can't run 2 vehicles. It is driving me completely nuts.

If anyone would like to steal it, go joyriding in it & then crash it into a tree & set fire to it, please feel free to volunteer...!! (Joking...)

Must be the wrong time of year - as others have said - as back in January we sold our 7.5 tonne lorry within 10 hours of it being advertised on Horse Quest. Chin up... there's someone out there either looking or thinking about looking for just what you've got.

I've just sold mine - M-reg 7.5T DAF horse with full living, year's MOT, and 10 months tax - sold within 4 days.

If anyone wants to PM me details of what they're selling, please do as I'm starting to look for something else (has to fit 17.2hh!)

im trying to sell my n reg merc 6.5t, nice cheap reliable box with new plating, have tried horse and hound/horsemart and ebay and not even a viewing.
already have new box so it needs to go but at a loss how really :(

5/6 horses and 7.5t how is that even possible?? to be within weight would need minimum 3t payload which is extremely rare unless full aluminium body etc. if you are advertising it as a 7.5t and carrying 5/6 i would suspect many will be put off thinking overweight. if it truly can carry that many legally then personally would get a weighbridge cert to state as much and include reference to the cert in the ad so potential buyers wont be put off by potential weight concerns :)

I have just managed to sell my old box on preloved within 2 weeks, then went a brought a different one! People are defo looking more at older boxes that are slightly cheaper

This sprung to mind instantly

I've been keeping a 'lazy' eye on the ads, with a view to properly looking in late Sept.
However, ..... I dont just want to read about horse info - but also test/tax/age/condition of running gear etc - and also mileage - and any service details if kept.
I also want through cab.
Some gems about, but a lot of mutton with nice paint & terrible mechanicals - and ropey ramps/flooring & tatty/dirty living with fridges that only part work, cookers that dont, gas items not serviced or tested properly - are well outnumbering the good boxes.

eg: a 2 horse, 3 pony box I saw today - had a leaking brake cyl, had not been serviced for 2 years, tho had done 20thou miles since then. It had filthy living, broken drivers seat (covered with nice seat cover tho!) and chewed partition & dents down the outside of the box when horse had struck it lots of times (no paint there either) - and £17k was needed to buy this 'immaculate well maintained horsebox'

Cleaning costs not a lot - except time.
Putting mileage in advert helps - particularly if backed up with service reciepts if higher end of mileage levels.
Putting lovely box & enthusing about playstations/horse showers and fridges - but nothing about unladen weight or age is a non-starter for me.

Sorry, having a bit of a rant there :o

So, a 2 horse/3 pony 7.5t box with through cab, living & some proper info please - I'll be buying if one comes up earlier, but otherwise will be wanting one for Oct hunting - and then onwards for 2012 summer season :)

Yes i agree, it does sound a little strange having a 5/6 horse 7.5 tonne lorry ?? My 7.5 tonne Iveco that i have for sale is a down graded HGV so could carry 3 big horses BUT i would be really quite overweighht with that. What websites are best to but my lorry on ? any suggestions? Its just on the BD website at the moment but need to get it on somewhere else. :)

Its been weight tested etc. This is to carry polo ponies, it wouldn't be able to carry 5/6 hunters, Weve taken 2 BIG hunters and 2 ponies fine, so for hunting purposes it would be about a 3 horse lorry... I think well wait till the start of the next season- lots of our friends sold awful lorries that hardly ran for good prices then so maybe just the wrong time of the year!
