Well...my new career needs a bigger car than my stupid little yaris. so we're going to get a 4x4. and it seems daft having a lorry when my reason for buying one was i didn't want to run a 4x4 as my everyday car...

so... we're going to sell Darling Katie. and buy a 4x4 and trailer.

advice needed...

selling katie:
-she has 2 months plating left. do you think i should get 12months plating on her to sell her? or will people buy with 2 months? she's only done about 500 miles since her last one that she flew through, so i can't imagine there'll be any problems... but you never know i guess?
-where's the best (free/cheap) place to sell? is ebay okay? do people get decent prices on there?
-she was a 5tonne box, but has been 'uprated' to 7.5tonnes. so bascially she is the size of a 5tonne one but has strengthened things (suspension, air brakes etc) that mean she can carry payload that takes her up to 7.5 tonnes (thats LOTS of payload!)... now, do i advertise her as 7.5 tonne? or as a 5tonne? i just think 7.5 sounds like a huge lorry, but she's really compact.

buying 4x4:
looked at lots today. i wanted to like the kia sorrento best cos i hear so many good things on here... but i ended up liking an Isuzu Rodeo Denver thing. has anyone got one? are they okay? i think it was because the salesman said i could have company logo sewn into the seats...

cottage cheese and spicy sausage for anyone who gets this far (i'm on low carb diet, it sucks...).

Why don't you put dimensions of lorry and payload on your ad. Photos can be deceptive and total length was one of the first questions I asked when looking for a lorry. Not sure about plating I advertised mine with only a few months left and did have quite a few enquiries - suppose it will depend on price of lorry. Can you pm me further details I may know of someone interested.

good point! photos of her do show she's compact. perhaps i could call her a compact 7.5tonnes. i'll PM you... but have no idea how much i'm asking etc yet (and secretly don't want to sell her...) as i only thought about it today... howl... :)

Clipclop - do you really want to drive around all the time in a 4x4? just work out the mph before you make any decisions.... also will your horse travel in a trailer - also dont just look at what the 4x4 can "pull" many of the weights are caluclated on what the vehicle can "move" rather than what they can safely tow/stop.....

Think long and hard - before you sell katie..... you may regret it if you do not check out all of your facts.... I agree a yaris is a little small but look at a honda civic - they have huge boots and lots of drop down seats etc and they are really economical and fun to drive and really hold onto their value....

*sniffle*

i do have to have a 4x4 really, as i need to be able to carry equipment for work and also potentially travel across rough terrain...

so, suki the yaris and katie the lorry are going to have to go. suki is a work car so she'll go when i'm made redundant anyway (unless i can make work feel sooooo bad for making me redundant that they give her to me?!? ;) )

raff will travel in a trailer, he's a good little man. anyway... he's not going to be going anywhere in a lorry or trailer until next summer anyway as he's broken... :(
