Ok after a lot of soul searching I have decided to sell my boy. We have come a long way but I feel we have gone as far as we can together, my heart is in eventing but his isn't. He is quite happy to do all three phases individually and has paces to die for and could go a long way in dressage. He has been placed intro and pn which I have put on the ad as I feel it shows what he has achieved but I keep getting calls from people that want to event even though I have advertised him as dressage / riding club. I have also had a couple of calls from people that want to just hack, hunt and do a bit of working hunter which would also suit him but when asked why I am selling him and I say that eventing isn't his passion (he can switch off after the dressage) it seems to put them off. He really is an amazing horse that could give someone a lot of fun and success and he really enjoys competing when he has just one phase to concentrate on, I want to be honest as to why I am selling him but don't want to put potential perfect homes off, any suggestions would be appreciated.

sounds like you need to revamp your advert.

What are his dressage scores? I would be tempted to lean more heavily on the dressage side and say what a great hack etc he is. Don't menion the eventing in the advert as it is clearly attracting the wrong person.

Sounds like a nice horse though & you are doing the right thing if you feel he doesn't enjoy eventing.

Thanks, he is lovely and good to do in every way, think I will have to competely change my ad but he hasn't any bd points or done any affiliated dressage, he is normally scoring in the low 30's.

I don't think that will really matter, depending on how old he is really.

Low 30's is really good (well it is for me - a miracle really !!). I would say something like, "consistently obtaining low 30's, potential to affiliate".

I may be talking rubbish as I've hardly sold any horses but it would seem a better angle to take.

I would state he is great dressage horse with the potential to do occassional ODE at RC level. May also enjoy a few days hunting, jack of all trades really but not suitable for just eventing lifestyle

Yeah that's a good idea, he is only 10, big flashy warmblood and would affiliate easily then hopefully would attract the right person who wouldn't be bothered that he doesn't enjoy eventing. Allways kept my horses till the end so this is a new experience for me and finding it really difficult.

Well, he sounds the ideal candidate for a dressage horse.

Could you possibly go to an affiliated dressage show, as I am sure that you can compete in a Prelim without registering him. You can then mention it if you do well and don't mention it if you don't ! You may also meet people there who would be interested.

Good luck.
