Why oh WHY do people choose such awful photos for advertisment of their horse?!

If you really want to sell your horse, then taking a few minutes to groom and take mud off your horse to make it look presentable will make it a million times easier to sell.

If you are advertising a horse as an bomb-proof alrounder, for all family, then dont show us a picture of you working it in draw reins. Seriously.

If you are selling a comp horse, then try to show us a pic of the horse in action, if not, a DECENT confo pic will be last resort.

Dont show us a picture of a horse in miserable condition when you are selling it as "safe and a plod" chances are once it has reached a proper weight and getting correct amount of food it won't be so sane.

On same note, dont have the horse so riduclouosy (sp) obese and say it is "show condition" - if it wobbles when it walks it is too fat!!

Dont show us "showjumpers" jumping through a grid or other kind of special jump designed to enhance the jump - we want to see what is natural and happens normally, not when forced!!

sorry, annoyed at the patheticness of some of the pics for horses for sale!

I don't understand why people take a photo of the horse wearing a muddy rug?! Yes, we all have muddy rugs at this time of year but you should be able to take it off for two mins to take a photo.

The worst sale photo I saw was a rugged horse lying down in a stable. Cute, yes, informative, not at all.

drives me nuts too!! the amount of ponies I wont even look at for a kids 1st or 2nd pony unless i see several piccies of children on board, not just a saddle with no stirrups and tack that has clearly been plonked on for a photo....recently backed....!!!

If it is fab xc and SJ and been out there doing it, then you MUST surely have a picture of it doing so!!

oh I soooo agree - my pet hate is close up headshots - is the comformation so bad that sellers don't want people to see??!! and also crappy out of focus shots of the horse grazing why oh why???

Totally agree with that. I remember seeing a horse a few years ago at a pretty well known showjumpers yard - when showing me it, he used a placing pole in front of the fence everytime. When I jumped the horse, I asked him to remove it and he said the horse was only young (5yo) and needed it. Good grief, if the horse HAD to have a placing pole all the time I hate to think what would happen when it WAS eventually taken away - it'd probably trip over the fence

My friend was looking at stallions for sale. She came across a advert of a young stallion with his 5th leg out!!! The advert caught our attention but for the wrong reasons!!!!

I'm afraid that when people decide to sell their horse they just sort out 2 or 3 snap shots & post them in the advert. They don't seem to consider taking some fresh 'selling' shots i.e. to show conformation, shape over a jump etc, if they did this they would probably get more phone calls to arrange viewings.

Totally agree and the number of "competition horses" that are for sale and owner sounds peeved when you ask if they have any photos of it competing..

Oh, and those advertised as "jumps 1.20 tracks easily" and then they say they don't have a rider who will jump that or offer to jump 85cms max..
