Well due to my new addition Emma (friesian filly I haven't stopped going on about) my mare Rosie is now for sale. However due to Rosie being 14 & Emma being one people are being rather negative about it "oh but what will you ride" "Jeezo one extreme to the other there eh?" "Won't you miss riding?" you get the idea ... Also because I've owned Rosie for 4 years I'm getting all the "Aww poor Rosie!" "Aren't you scared?" etc etc etc!
& well basically is driving me to depression!!! I understand I won't be able to ride as much but there are other horses in the country to ride and I feel it is worth not having my own to ride in order to create a bond with my new youngster. However the main thing that is worrying me is not being able to find a nice owner for Rosie - I'm selling her very cheap - £1250 inc tack and rugs to try and ensure I can find her a lovely new owner but I'm just having a little mini break down about selling her now ...
Oh & the reason I'm selling Rosie is she would be much better suited to someone wanting a big horse to love and just plod about on, hacking schooling every now and then etc. Also she is not a one person horse; anyone who feeds her is ok in her books! We don't have an amazing bond! I'm only 20 and want to do more & will never be able to afford 2 and a half (have a shetland) horses so feel it's best I sell her on now before she gets older.
Any postive expriences of selling a much loved horse or just any words of support would be much appreciated!

Sorry for the HUGE rant - feeling emotional :(

I totally understand. Why not sharing Rosie until you can ride your filly?

Or sell Rosie (which ws your plan anyway) and take advanced lessons to prepare yourself for for filly??

Really, what others think should not be your concern...

Thank you.
Sadly sharing is not an option money wise - would still be too much & also want to devote as much time to Emma (new filly) as possible! Having lessons and riding friends horses was my original plan yes :)
I'm just quite sensitive & with such a hard decision it is proving so easy to let what others say get to me and make me doubt what I'm doing ... also never thought I'd sell Rosie, was always one of those "they are with me for life" people.

Don't worry about selling your Rosie, you just need to make sure you find her a loving home.

We bought our own Rosie in November, and her owners were really keen to find her a loving home which was more important than the money. Luckily we 'measured up' and she is now ours for keeps.

Good luck, you need to do what is best for you and best for her.

Nakita, you do what YOU want. They are only jealous because they would love to get a baby to play and bond with, but for what ever reason, cant or wont!!
Putads in tack shops and online sites, there are some that do free ads. If Rosie is that good a horse, some one will jump at the chance. You may have to offer her out as a LWVTB or let potential buyers have her on trial, even if its at your yard?

Good luck!

If she is the horse I am thinking of she is lovely! I wish it was 6 months in the future and I would probably be able to afford her :( She's just the type I want as my second horse to share with the OH. Cheeky I know but could you post a pic of her so I can see if it is the one I am thinking of?

Heh what are the details of your Rosie, I used to own on who would be 14 now! Follow your insincts its the only way to peace of mind and don't worry about what others think, there will always be haters who don't understand

Thanks everyone! Really appreciate your comments :)

Hope that link works; if so Rosie is the the chesnut - there are only 2 pictures of her, they are not the best tbh & she is NOT photogenic! Lol.
She is ID X TB, has an unusual white spot on her side/belly, is soo well mannered and easy to work with - I could leave her stable door open! Very easy to ride, her only fault would be she can be spooky but with someone confident on board she is fine :) However I have hacked her our for a long time now with no spookyness but would still say to new owners as I'm sure a ew place with a new owner would deserve a few eyeballing at bushes she has never seen before! Lol. She really is a fantastic horse the yard owner has always said she wishes she had a livery full of Rosies as life would be much easier! Lol.
We are based in Ayrshire, Scotland.
I have advertised her everywhere possible for sale atm, if I have no responses soon I will edit ads to LWVTB as it is the next best option.

Lol! Thank you! Already had a few calls and emails & someone is coming to see her tomorrow! So hopefully she will find a nice home soon :D
