selling saddles on e bay

I've sold a few, but not recently. I usually check what everyone else is charging and hazard a guess, then package it up in a cardboard box and take it to the post office. I have also used a courier (there are plenty who advertise on ebay) which was also good but means you have to stay in and wait for them to pick it up (my nearest depot is 13 miles away).
 
Yes, no problems at all. I have also bought a few that have been sent by Royal Mail, again, no problem. I wrap them well in bubble wrap and then put the whole thing in a bin bag. I pad the box with newspaper or similar to stop it moving about in the box. I also send them 'signed for' or whatever it's called now, in my head, I think they maybe take just a little more care.

I have sold a few saddles on ebay, have always been able to find a big box and as long as they are wrapped in bubble wrap and well taped up they travel fine.
The PO bit is the tricky part as they don't usually have suitable scales to weigh the parcel, or the space to take them and therefore are not overly keen.

Just measure and weigh your parcel (I use the bathroom scales and add a bit on to allow for any inaccuracies) log on, choose the service you require, most options are less than £10. Book it and put the parcel somewhere it can be picked up (you don't even have to be there!)
They pick the parcel up, you can track it, you know when it has been delivered too, it's a great service!
 
Ive sold several and always use Parcel Force 48 hour service and charge £20. I work for Royal Mail and would never use them (Parcel Force is same company but different division) I sold one last week for a mate and when I sent the bill The buyer was from Finland. Had a quick panic but they sorted out their own courier so wasn't to painful in the end. I would say that if your not sure then put in the listing UK buyers only. I usually get boxes from the local saddlers.
 
Sold 2 recently. I sent parcelforce 48 in a box with bubble wrap. Fully tracked and signed for was £19.50 which included the extra insurance. You can send standard parcels for cheaper but I don't think that's signed for. Also, you can book couriers online and I've done this before selling a bike. Was dead easy and they picked up from my work. It was interparcel I used and it was actually DHL that collected.
All have arrived just fine and even my teeny local post office had suitable scales. Make sure you take lots of photos from all sides.
 
I have bought a saddle off e-bay, came in a large box and padded in bubble wrap, absolutely fine. The biggest problem will be finding the box.
In your discription make sure you put the make, width and if possible measure the gullet width at the front as it makes all the difference.
