This is not an ad by the way, just a little moan!

I have my hawk event up for sale at basically peanuts for what its actually worth, yet I get people emailing me and asking if they can 'trial' it for a week or two before deciding whether they want it or not! Its not a blimmin horse! I have no problem if people want to try it on their horse and have a sit on it but a week or two????? When I said no they were pretty miffed, but supposing they dropped it of scuffed it etc, then its not worth anything!! Grrrrrrr anyone else having this issue?

sort of , but i've now given mine to a local saddler who will take it on her round as a second hander , at least that way i know it will be professionally fitted and that she'll look after it really well , ok i'll pay her commission for selling but it takes the hassle off me .

I sell and sometimes buy through a local saddlers, when you find one that may do you can take them on approval for up to 10 days by leaving credit details so the owner is covered if there is any damage but the buyer can have time to try properly.
I usually get my saddler in to look at them before paying, so it works really well for all involved, buying with no chance to try is not an option as far as I am concerned, I can see your side but if you put it in a saddlers they would carry any risk and deal with the customers.

I sold my old Sabre saddle on Ebay. I got the price I wanted and the lady came to collect it from my house. No problems at all.

now thats a good idea, I did not realise that was an option. Problem is there are not many saddlers in my area (south wales) unless anyone knows of one?

I met one recently - we both had trade stands at the David Broome centre - he was local but can't remember exactly where or who....

I sold mine through Karen at Ride and Stride, Chepstow. She fits saddles :) Or try Hugh Thomas in Bridgend, not sure if he only takes part ex tho

JMP in Rhiwbina, Cardiff now use Clive Whereatt for saddle fitting, again not sure if he takes on second hand saddles to sell :)

I'm in the valleys and use Clive Whereatt... He's in Glos but travels to S Wales regularly - as Skyebald says, he does the saddlery stuff for JMP...

He does sell second hand saddles but I've no idea if he only takes on part ex or will buy them too... Worth a try though... :)
