So I basically tried selling my horse 18months ago and gave up and put her in the field for 6 months while I had my second child.
I now have come to terms that I really should sell her as she’s barely in any work and I really don’t have the money anymore. I literally don’t have the time to do a private sale, she had a tendon injury 4 years ago and has been fine ever since she’ll be 14 in may so a lot going against her.
Basically just wondering if there where any dealers in the south east that would buy her off me? I know I won’t get much money for her and don’t have the money for sales livery as I doubt I’d get any money at the end of all the bills
Please help!!!
 
why not turn her out again and try to sell in the spring. if she is an easy ride, traffic proof and wellbehaved and would be a good happy hacker the old tendon injury wont be a problem. if she is tricky i wouldnt think a dealer would want to take her on and if they did they would sell her on quickly and this maybe the downward spiral for her....its never easy selling but you also need to think of how to get the best home for her. good luck.
 
For this sort of horse would you consider a LWVTB?

You haven’t really given much info about her but if she is a fairly low value horse you might be successful in securing her a long term private home rather than getting passed around.

Obviously not without some risk and energy investment on your part ...
 
She’s won at be100 and won bs and jumped upto newcomers but all 4 years ago now. I’ve done a few ode all unaffiliated in last few years all bar one she’s been dc at either at 90 or 100. She’s good in traffic but spooky and she’s fine with everything else! I just need a easy sale as don’t have the time tbh I’d sell her for £1 just so I don’t have to worry any more.
Re turning he away she wouldn’t winter out the slightest bit of mud and she’s got mud fever!
 
Is she now sound and can she stand up to work? What's her flatwork like? Is she a confidence giver when jumping? How spooky in traffic- is it predictable?

There are plenty of older riders who'll take a risk on a healed tendon if it gets them a confidence giving riding club all rounder. If she could complete a presentable unaffiliated prelim/novice test, and pop round an 80cm course, and hack reasonably safely, and stay sound doing it, there will be loads of homes out there. Do you have a network of friends who know her and could spread the word?

What about a loan, with the (contracted) option for the loaner to buy her for a nominal sum if she stays sound once brought back into work and everything works out?

I'd try advertising via local riding clubs.
 
Friend had a mare that started misbehaving with only her and she got scared and had no idea what to do. She had no funds to send her for schooling so decided to send horse off to a well known lady for sells livery. She kept the horse for 3 weeks and done alot with horse, the horse was going lovely with 0 problems, she was sold by the end of that time for £2,000 more than my friend paid and the lady just took her take out of the amount which wasn't crazy money. Just a idea.
 
Thankyou for all your replies. She just spooks at rubbish as there’s a lot of fly tipping round where we hack but cars bikes lorries are never a problem. She’d take anyone round a course of jumps again she’ll happily spook at things on the edge of an arena/jump judges but never says no unless rider gets it very very wrong. I no she’s a good horse as she is easy to ride isn’t strong but can be annoying regarding the spooking. Back in the day we where getting sub 30s now it’s more like 35 mainly cos she needs more consistent work.
I’ll hold on till the new year then put the word out to the local riding clubs in the area!! I think lwvtb would probs be the best bet just not to sure how you go about setting a price/time limit to begin with

That sounds like much fairer plan than passing her onto a dealer and having no say in her future, it makes me sad that anyone can do this to a horse they have had so much fun with although I appreciate it is hard when money is tight.

As for price she still has a value as a PC/RC allrounder for a competent rider who wants to get out competing as soon as she is fit enough and most will not mind a slightly spooky horse if it is good in traffic and has other attributes, I would expect to get at least £2k for her if she passes a vet, possibly more if you could get her fit or find someone to prep her for sale, it is often worth spending a few hundred with this type of horse to get them fit enough to show properly, clipped, trimmed and looking the part should attract a buyer who is looking for a horse to enjoy next season on.

Remember to "sell" her good points and while you need to be honest don't make a big deal out of the negatives, she sounds to me as if there are more positives for the right buyer.
 
she sounds really nice to me and would make a good riding club mount for someone,,,,glad you are going to wait a while, it would be a shame to send her to a dealer now....price would also depend on how big she is, a pony, usually will be slightly cheaper than a horse if both have the same attributes....good luck with finding the right person for her. if you say which area you are in there may be someone on here who could suggest tack shops, feed merchants etc to put an ad.
 
reading your other posts, she seems like a very nice sounding horse, im sure she'll be snapped-up!

id personally put the word around PC, RC, mention to friends, farrier, previous RI's etc now. There's no harm in, informing people that she's available on LWVTB or sale.
 
She sounds like a beautiful mare from reading the other replies. Personally not going through a private sale would mean you didn't know where or who she was being sold to. I'm assuming you love this horse, and therefore I'm also assuming you'd want to know she was going to the best and most loving home available.
