PLease can someone reassure me? Why is selling a much loved daughter's pony so hard. Had a few people come to see her some we like some we don't! ( can't let her go to someone we don't like)Pony did senior camp this year and intructor says she hasn't seen a nicer pony for a long time. So my question is, i suppose why don't the people we like, like our pony?

As you love her so much, it's really important to be comfortable with the new owners, as you will undoubtedly want to keep in touch, and you won't be able to if you don't like them. Also you will want your pony to be happy, so if your gut instinct isn't right, hold out for the right home. As the instructor spoke so highly of her, sure you will have lots of interest, good luck!!!!

I had my pony for 15yrs and we bought her as a baby - rescue and broke her in etc...she turned into a great little competition pony and she went out on loan the year I got married as my husband bought me a 4 yr old horse as a surprise and I already had a 30 yr old pony who I also got at the same time as the pony.
It took me ages to confirm that selling her was the best thing for her as I just was not riding her once she returned from loan and knew she was wasted with me really.

I had many people come and see her and yes it does take a while for the right person to come along. All I can say is patience is the best policy. I sold my pony in a rush and the lady who I thought was nice turned into a human beast and made selling her really difficult...I knew the home would be good as her husband was a vet and she had good facilities and seemed to love her horses but the lady seemed to be a total bully on the price, threatened me with lots of situations and has recently text me after 6 weeks from buying her stating she is lame and wants to know what I had done to her in the past to cause this problem for her...

Please just take your time if you can and make sure the person is right. Visiting their yards and fields is good too as it gives you a good idea of where the pony is going...
def hang in there...someone perfect is out there...

thanks you guys leary and bramble87. We are all feeling fairly low tonight after a terrible family came to see her and the nice family who came yesterday are too busy to concentrate on buying a pony!

I think the right people will come along - at least you have some interest from the families you like, seems a bit bad luck if they happen not to have the time to concentrate on buying right now.

Did the families you like give any other reasons for not wanting her?

Do what we are doing and keep her until Fate steps in. I have no idea how people move them on like old cars and you can only be sure of their first home after you. Too risky for me and I have just kept them all. We have just got number five..........

brighteyes is right people do tend to just sell them on like old cars...
If I had had the room, time and facilities I would have kept my pony too....
I could never sell my old pony....
