I am sending some clippers for servicing and they are being sent in the post. Have never sent them this way before so wondered if anyone who has posted theirs before could reccomend the best way?

Lister who I am using have asked for them to go back in their storage case but not sure whether to just then wrap the case in plastic wrapping or put in another box?

Can anyone advise?
Thanks

Ive sent clippers away for sharpening/servicing before. I just put them in plenty of bubble wrap. Then cut a paper feed sack down to size and put them in there, well taped up with plenty of duck tape etc, the stick an address label on. No your dont have to send them in their case.

They have been sent in their case, in a box full of bubble wrap at a cost of £21....

I wouldnt mind paying it if I was just sending them for a service but they are a brand new set of Liberty clippers that were used for the first time on Sunday , the blades got too hot within the first 5 minutes when I had only done 3/4 strokes up the neck in the end gave up with them and used my Lasers. They had been correctly oiled/tensioned etc.

Spoke to Lister and they wanted them back to look at/repair - Faulty ?

Do feel slightly aggrieved that I have had to pay to get them back to them though when do not feel it is my fault that a new set of clippers were obviously faulty

Have had Listers for 16 years dont use anything else and this is the first set I have had trouble with.

Have asked Lister to compensate me for the postage and am awaiting a response.

Would be interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar problem with a new set of Liberty clippers overheating?

No experience of Lister clippers but I agree you should be entitled to a P+P refund . You are not gaining anything by having a refund you just want clippers that work.
When I have sent mine for servicing have sent them recorded delivery. Although it wouldn't cover the value if they were lost think it makes it much less likely! Good luck with Lister.

Out of curiosity were you using Listers own oil that comes with the clippers?

I see lots of makes over the course of a season and I have not come across a specific problem with showmans/libertys, but assuming you went on to use your Laser with no worries, you are obviously used to using a Lister, so that takes any operator error out of the equation, which makes it harder to sort out..

As for posting clippers, I always say send them in their box, with the blades off and well wrapped, although a lot of the plastic cases that machines come in do seem cheap and nasty. The best cases are the blow moulded ones Wolseley use, which are very strong and easy to clean.

Usually the best way to send them is "Royal Mail Compensation Fee Parcel" which is insured in case of loss or damage.

Hope Lister sort your problem out and you are back clipping soon.

Yes I only ever use Listers own oil *think* off the top of my head its called R15 or R14 cant remember.

Yes the Lasers I tend to use for for clients horses I was using the Libertys on one of my own thankfully as would have been rather embaressing having to stop after the first 5 minutes of clipping time as they were so hot.

After being very communicative when I approached them re the obvious issue with the clippers they are now not being quite so easy to get hold of now I have sent the clippers back - they have promised faithfully that they will be back with me on Friday and have had no answer from them regarding refunding me the postage costs so ever so slightly worried am not going to get the clippers back!
