Sending emaciated horses to market for the meat man... I'm confused...

There IS a market for horsemeat here in Argentina. When beef gets expensive, horsemeat finds itself onto butcher's shelves, sometimes sold as beef. The rest of the time, horse meat is used for making salami and bondiola and other local sausage type things (the word eludes me; 'embutido' in Spanish) and of course dog food, etc.
Anyhow, horses are sold by weight, so it makes no sense to send your skinny horse to the knacker for meat. In fact horses here are fattened up specifically for the meat man. So, I genuinely would like to know what an evil turd (am I allowed to say turd?) like JG gain from letting his horses get emaciated before sending them to market UNLESS of course his specific intention is to get them rescued for more than they're worth.
Of course he IS an evil turd and might just be like that...
Answers anyone??

Seriously, I cannot understand it. Maybe he had bought all these horses, and then the meat man/men decided that he didnt want to trade with him anymore, and therefore he had no where for these horses to go? And just abandoned them?

i have a theory.....he may get £80 - £200 per animal from the slaughter house after paying to feed them......or he may make far more from bunny huggers going to sales in rose tinted glasses to "rescue" something......

Well if other comments are correct & they were stolen then they have cost him nothing more then the transport to pick them up. If you had got something for nothing then it is difficult not to make a profit. I have not read all the reports on this but I am amazed it has taken so long to be bought to anyone's attention.

Hey count me in on the bunny hugger thing. Listen, these horses would have gone to fattening farms in France. We don't know how that would have happened, but believe me, Brit horses are making it over there.
This guy, he just didn't care obviously and since they have tried to do him before for just this sort of thing and he has gotten away with it...they have actually taken horses away from this guy.
Blame the RSPCA for it getting this bad. In my eyes they are just as much to blame as the evil turd here.

The R.S.P.C.A are very limited with the powers they have ,Most people get a small fine and stopped from keeping animals for so many years or have a life ban,We need to compaign to give them more power,Another problem with this guy (Scum of the earth !) Is his ponies always looked good when kept in Fullers hill in the summer months and then they would disappear. But the R.S.P.C.A were called lots of times,He would shoot horses in the field and threaten the people who tried so hard to intervene,He was also hard to find because he rented land all over Bucks and other places.
God knows why he was starving them when they were meant for meat ?
One officer has told me that it is better to get theses people for evasion of tax ,I know that sounds stupid but they use alot of cash ,The inland revenue can put them in prison for longer than the R.S.P.C.A and fine them more and they will not let them go ,They will always watch them.But theirs one more thing,What about these so called horse lovers that send their horses to market ,Someone said on here alot of people dont have a choice because they are dangerouse ect so if this is true would it not be kinder to put them to sleep ? I know their are lots of reasons why they go to market but this is the shop for the meat trade ? I know abit about this man as i lived down the rd from him at one time But their are some fantastic horse people nr him ,Some really good yards and even they didnt know what was going on ,As people have said they would have done something more if they had,The lane were the farm is ,Is very remote and most people dont have cause to go down their as it does on one side lead to a very busy rd.
Its the people who lived in the bungalow that took alot crap from this guy and must of been very scared as i said remote .
You know even the police dont like going into camps like this .
