I have also posted this in NL but haven't had much response.

I am planning on sending my youngster away to be backed and am having a dilemma on who to use. Does anyone have any recommendations?

My boy is quite nervous and sensitive so he needs to go to someone quiet and patient. Open to a natural horseman type as I think he would respond well to this but more Kelly Marks not Parelli. Or just a good kind horseman/horsewoman!

Ideas appreciated!

I send mine to a showing yard in Essex - two girls run the yard in there 20's but they are very quiet and very good!

Yard has good hacking and an indoor school and they charge £100 a week...

They break about 10 horses each Winter (when it is not the show season) so they know what the are doing...

I sent my little stubborn cold backed pony up there to be broken last winter and she spent the first two weeks broncing round on the lunge with her tack on and honest never thought they would get her going! She was there a month and at the end of the time i was quietly hacking out on her before she came home to me!

PM if you would like her number. Honest i couldnt speak more highly of what they have done for me!

Thanks Winchester. :)

They do sound fab but i was hoping for someone closer to home as i want to be able to go and see how it is all going. Im in MK so Essex is a bit of a journey.

I think I posted a reply to you on another thread, but I would very highly recommend Selina from Queens Ponies, who backed my boy for me. He loved his time with her and had a fantastic start! She is now managing a fantastic yard in Shenley, Herts. Selina is well qualified and works with many horses with behavioural issues. She has a great reputation with vets and other equine practitioners, which speaks for itself! PM me if you'd like any further information :D
