I am planning on sending my youngster away to be backed and am having a dilemma on who to use. Does anyone have any recommendations?

My boy is quite nervous and sensitive so he needs to go to someone quiet and patient. Open to a natural horseman type as I think he would respond well to this but more Kelly Marks not Parelli. Or just a good kind horseman/horsewoman!

Ideas appreciated!

Andrea Stanley? Think she has an ad up in Biggleswade Saddley, or PM me if you want the tel no.

She is v experienced & patient & gentle, & I only stopped having lessons with her as Trev needed a bit of tough love! She has evented to a high standard & competes dr at a good level.

Thanks Catembi I will look into Andrea. :)

Thanks Sophie, where are you based? Do you have a website I can look at? If your not allowed to post it on here please send me a PM. :)

The person I send him to needs to be 100% right for him. He's a cracking horse but is insecure.

Any others?

Andrew James (based nr Biggleswade) is absolutely fabulous. Top league event rider, kind and quiet, superb with young horses. I have had only good experiences and the horses I have with him (from 2** to baby's) are all happy, relaxed and beautifully schooled. Cannot speak highly enough of him for breaking and bringing on a young horse.

Ian Waite, based north of Milton Keynes, will come to you if you're not too far away. He is very patient, experienced and competent (and reasonably priced).
I'm not his mum!
He broke in my 4yr old wb/tb, no issues, v happy with his work.

Also meant to say sounds like you have a few good options. Why not call in see them all , have a good chat, feel the atmosphere in the yard - the right person will be obvious for you ! Good luck, it's a big thing getting the right start for your horse.

Selina from Queens Ponies is excellent and has just taken on the management of a fantastic yard in Shenley in Hertfordshire. Selina has backed many youngsters, and also works with vets and other practitioners to rehabilitate and train horses. She is qualified BHSAI and in Equine Science and Behaviour. She backed my boy for me, and he loved his work with her. I couldn't have asked for a better start for him. Very highly recommended!! PM me if you want any further information :D
