I've moved horses lots of times, but I've never sold/loaned one of mine before. Was wondering the other day, from the perception of the other horses (two of whom are a little wary of the box anyway and we have to be super nice to each time they go out), I'll be taking their friend out of the field and onto the box (as usual), then their friend won't be coming back.
We were going to use it as an opportunity to take a travelling companion with the pony and go to the beach while we were there (as new yard for loan pony is a stone's throw from a lovely beach), and I guess while the traveling companion would then know what had happened, the others would again see two go, one come back.
So what have people done and how did their horses react? My lot are together all the time as I have my own place, and two are very nervy and very dependent on trusting me to cope with the outside world when hacking/at comps etc. I don't want to manage this badly and lose that trust. I could have someone else bring her up to the box (which is out of sight of the field) and then take her...?
