My horse has gone away to boot camp for a month and I am really looking forward to seeing his progress.

Hopefully I will be going up to have lessons over the next month but I am giving him a week to settle in and get a head start.

I just wondered if anyone here has ever done something similar with their horse and how you found it? Did you have a better horse when they came back and for what reason did you send them away?

I've sent 2 horses away on 3 occasions, 1 was to be Broken in after I backed her, she came back a million times better than what I could have done. The other horse was an ex racer who hadn't been re schooled well and wouldn't hack on his own, he came back transformed and I sent him off again a couple of years later for a 'top up'. The people I use are firm but consistent and fair, they dont use fancy gadgets and don't even have an arena.
