Sensitive in Loins/Flank area

Not sure if I'm over-reacting here but would like your opinions please. Brought him in this evening and whilst grooming in this area (the area which dips a bit) on one side, ears went back and he kicked out. He can be a bit grumpy but this was more than usual. He also seemed a bit sensitive in the area behind his withers. Any ideas folks?

I'd see what he's like tomorrow first - he may just have pulled himself around in the field, or have come into bed the wrong side
If he's still sore then I'd possible get him check over. Make sure he's drinking and weeing ok too...

He's definitely drinking OK - usually 2 largish buckets a night and plenty of wet bedding. Would you keep him in tomorrow?

I'd be inclined to say no........if he has just pulled himself then he'll heal quicker if he's mobile.

I'd say no too...backs often benefit from a little movement and he should limit what he doesn't want to do himself!
