Well.... Basically. HE DIDN'T TURN UP!

We rang and rang and rang but he didn't answer! I thought it was abit dodgy when he said "meet us in the pub carpark" but then he just text me half an hour ago saying "sorry couldn't make it we will arrange another time" when we was meant to meet him at half 7!!!!!!! So annoyed. It's only around the corner from me but I wonder if I did make another arrangement if he would actually turn up?

Do you honestly think that A) he'd been on HHO and B) that he'd give a toss what people think anyway ?

Highly unlikely.......

so sorry to hear that - good for you for trying - best thing may be to arrange to meet wait until you are about to leave to meet him and ring to see if he is there to save a wasted journey. Good luck

Like he would be bothered about a thread? Like he would of even seen it anyway! He just wants the cash! Well since everybody has said since its such a bad idea and commenting on my old mare who I thought was lame but ISN'T! They just keep slagging me off on the other thread so I don't know, maybe someone more experienced than me should have her since I'm such a fool!

I don't think he'd give a toss especially when the thread indicates a sure thing for a sale?! If welfare was involved he could be traced easily enough through his ad, so if he saw the thread in don't think he'd give a damn

HE prob didn't see it.... but someone else may well have done and told him that people were planning on reporting him. If I were selling poor animals I wouldn't want the hassle of welfare societies poking their nose in.

I don't think a thread on HH would bother him personally, and op if you were so intent rightly or wrongly on helping Tilly, then why give a dam what strangers on a forum think of it, I sure has hell would not, my main concern would be the pony !!!!

Your cash, your choices...if you want her then two figs at what any nay sayers think...

But, in all fairness to the other thread, most of the comments expressing concern about your older mare also made it clear that they thought you sounded very concerned and nice...

No, but I think the number of comments saying view, buy (or not), and then call the welfare agencies may have put him off....

That was my thought too...

There was a similar thread last year. A really lovely, genuine sounding novice had been to see a small time dealer, as in this case she followed the person there and therefore didn't have a proper address.

She didn't buy but posted on here as she was appalled by the condition of the ponies. The dealer got wind of the thread and threatened the woman and her young child. Not good at all.

My mare at 20 years of age is perfectly healthy with a tiny infection on her foot. In what way does that make me so inexperienced? Because I asked advice on a forum? I didn't buy the filly and there was no viewing! Thinking about it now, I would love to have her but I know somebody else could raise her better than me, but that doesn't mean I should be getting nasty comments and "concerns" about my other horse? I think it's plain rude!

I thought he had probably been made aware of this thread too, and of course he would care when people were threatening to report him.

You have no idea the reach this forum has. Some people are so very naive... as proven by the initial thread.

I agree, think he got wind of the thread. There are 1000's of users and lurkers, he's involved with horses so someone is bound to know him... Plus his phone number is on the ad. Only takes one text/call.

He might be a dealer in it for the money but too much interest will throw him off. The mare will sell just as easily to someone else with no 'extra' attention.

You seem to be oblivious of the posts YOU have posted. YOU said you were a complete novice (I think the words following that were something to the effect of - 'which I am sure you will have noticed').

Some of commented that in our opinions, someone who doesn't know what navicular is because 'they are a complete novice' should not AT THIS STAGE in your level of experience take a youngster on. How on earth you find that offensive is beyond me. Touchy touchy.

You don't need to know what navicular is to be a good owner you do need to know when to call the vet .Natalie ( I don't remember if I read this thread ) asked for advice and has had the vet no issue there.
Very young horses need a bit of handling and grass a salt lick hay apporiate food in winter worming teeth looked at feet trimmed and the company of other horses that not rocket science .
I am not sure why Natalie would come back to this forum for advice after tonight
Which is a shame because you do get a good range of views on here .
