It's not unheard of for dealers, dodgy or otherwise, to Google themselves for feedback. No reason a dodgy one wouldn't do the odd search on horse forums either, especially after a call for a viewing.
Natalie, don't take anything personally, its just I'm sure others, like myself have seen the best intentions go wrong. How about if you really would like to help & have the time you volunteer for a registered charity with rescue horses? You'd get to do your bit for more than one & gain experience so that in the future if you see a horse you feel as strongly about as tilly you'll be able to make an informed decision & be able to bring it on without needing lots of help from others?

Just an idea but if Natalie does not want to take the filly on after all which is completely her choice maybe Natalie coold let the other poster ABC ( I think that was his/ her name) know as they were quite admant that they had space to take on the poor wee mite. I am on the fence as to whether supporting a poor excuse for a dealer like this one is the right or wrong thing to do but in no way would I ever begrudge the poor pet a good home.

If you Google the phone number given on the ad, it takes you to a roofing company and a couple of addresses, one appears to be a stables. If there's real concern about the condition of this seller's horses, that could be useful should the welfare organisations be involved.

Although he suggested meeting in a pub car park, he doesn't seem to be hiding his address, it's easy to locate. But it's not in Lancaster, it's some miles out.
