hi i usually lurk but i was hoping for some advice. i have a roughly 5 year old staffie- terrier mix that i have had since february. she has been abused in the past, not quite sure of her history but she has been beaten. despite this she is incredibly loyal, friendly dog who in general is very well behaved and loves people. the only issue is leaving her. i am a student so her day consists of an early morning walk off lead before i leave. im gone anything between a few hours, or 9 til 5. she has got used to this and will only whine if im late home. there are other people in the house but even though she likes other people she would prefer to be with me, to the extent of when im in the house she has to be in the same room as me. the problem arises if i go out in the evening. now she is always walked again and i try to tire her out a bit. i leave her in my room (which is quite small), she has her bed, chews, pigs ears but she wont touch them until i come home. i was wondering if a cage would help and i might be able to get her to sleep on the landing instead of in my room.
apart from this she really is the most amazing, affectionate dog who is incredible considering all she has been through!
