Seperate dressage/jump saddles - do you bother? And from what age?

Due to my own awkward conformation, I cant really ride in GP saddles :p
I'm lucky enough to have both. Even if you're starting small/relatively easy (2ft jumps, prelim dressage) surely STARTING in the right position, with the right tools is better/easier? ie. if you have to dig a small hole, you could do it with a trowel, or.... you could do it with a spade... and then if you have to make it bigger? You already have the spade.
Random way of saying it but first thing to mind xD So if you can afford the gear, why not?

Lol I like that theory Sol! Think I will try this dressage saddle on him - you have all convinced me it would be money well spent *toddles off to ebay to look at dressage numnahs/saddle cloths - one between two clearly isn'y enough!*

QR personally I think a rider realises the time when they need to change from a GP saddle to one of each, or either or. Years ago I was fine riding in a GP as my riding has evolved I cant stand them!

I used a GP on my youngster until he stopped changing shape at an alarming rate of knots, we have a brill saddler who understands that funds are limited and works within our budget. We are lucky enough that a variety of saddles fit 5 out of 6 of our horses ( the pony is 11hh so she is excused! and has her own personal saddle), so we are able to mix and match and use dressage and jump saddles as necessary. This has also allowed my teenage girls to ride in all types of saddles fro a long time.
