any advice. we now have a pony on loan for my daughter and to keep my horse company. they get on well and we can ride together and they are both hacked out seperatley occasionally (only ride weekends at mo). loan pony ok on her own mine tends to get more stressed so stable her with haynet and leave her to it but only for approx 1 hour. however daughter now keen to go to pony club rallies and eventually camp in summer and worried about how to manage my horse initially for approx 3 hours . answer is not to get another horse as oh would have a fit. but really want to be able to manage them both without problems. kept at home so no other horse to call on

she will call regularly and take bites of hay in between. wouldnt leave her out as she just gallops around and has old ligament damage.not sure if she would get more or less stessed when left longer i suppose its one of those things we just have to find out

Yes, I would be inclined to get her used to being on her own in the stable for longer periods...plenty of hay to much on and ignore! This is the best method...if you keep checking you will get yourself stressed and the horse will get the response it wants. So long as she is not thrashing about and being a menace to herself I would not worry...better than her galloping about in the field.

Grace was exactly like this... she would scream and scream when I took Hannah away from her (both are my mares) and even started running at her door at full pelt. I knew something had to be done, so I bought her a mirror!

It is the best money I ever spent. She will still shout occasionally but will now eat her net (would snatch a mouth full then scream again, very unsettled etc etc) and stand next to it dozing when Hannah is out in the field. This is not something ever envisaged would be possible. I cannot recommend the mirrors enough!
