any tips for this?

My welsh D x is fine to hack out alone, ride alone etc but has a problem being in stable alone and travelling alone

starting to tie him up in stable for up to an hour and slowly increasing hoping this will help....really want to get him travelling alone but last time we did he went over the breast bar in the trailer ! (been out loads with company since just not alone)

any one else have this problem, its very frustrating as he is such a star to ride!

I wouldn't tie up in the stable. I'd do as you are though, & slowly increase the time alone in the stable. Dependent on routine, I'd also time it so he was a bit hungry & bring him in to hay/haylage. I don't mean withhold food, but if he normally gets hay at say 6pm, I'd bring in a 6 alone so he is hungry enough to concentrate on eating. Once he's fine alone for a few hours in a stable, I'd then do the same in a trailer, working towards him happily standing in it eating with the ramp closed for an hour or two before trying a short lone journey.

we he is not that bad at just standing in its when you tie him up that he gets upset or impatient, just like when he is in a box trailer alone or another horse is removed....

he is only 8 (i say only but he was only broken at 6 and last year was first year of getting out and about) so will hopefully will improve with time but just bought a new box and really want to get out in it this season!
