Would you tow with one?????

Answers please

We had one.It would tow albeit at a snails pace. The brakes were not brilliant,The handbrake would not hold the trailer with one horse in it.But i guess it would also depend on what trailer and weight of the horse(s).I felt very unsafe (well hubby was driving) towing with it.Our old 3 series is now in France being used on a farm.Bless it.

Yes and have done in the past, although I think a 90 might be a slightly better choice. At least with the Series 3 you have the towing capacity that most cars don't have, but it will be quite slow, particualry if its a naturaly aspirated diesel (cant spell!).

Yes I have!

Used to go miles in mine - however as above handbrake will not hold the horses on a steep hill.... especially when you forgot to engage the free wheeling hubs for low gear and you really needed it!

Its very slow uphill (think 30 mph or less!)

Plus if you get a petrol, it will do 14 mpg with the wind behind you when not towing. Will do around 5 mpg towing, so it will never go past a filling station and will financially cripple you very quickly!

OMG...... Have just tried...... I would need the muscles of a navvy to cope without power steering and OMG where are the gears?????

Hubby said I was welcome to use his old A reg series 3 for my trailer........ I am afraid the answer is a resounding NO!!!

Ghastly. I had one, the steering was so bad I went along at about 25mph (I joke not) unless I was on a dual carriage way when I might risk 30. It was checked and rechecked but there was nothing "wrong" with it. I pulled OK, but was tiring to drive. I was so pleased when it was sold.
