Ok, two weeks after shoeing...clink clink-loose shoe, then it came off, had it re shod, week after...comes off again when cantering-this time he pulled it off. one week after...clink clink, back shoe loose..ahhhhrggggg!!!!His feet are so brittle and cracked, but only at the bottoms. I have been using cornucresine original for two weeks now and the growing horn looks good but when it gets further down it just starts cracking again!!Whats the best hoof supplement?thanks guys

i use methisal from the vets for brackens feet shes got typical TB feet......cr*p!! it forces healthy hoof to grow quickly its around £20 a tub and the tub lasts awhile. means bracken is now shod when before you couldnt get a shoe on her never mind keep it on!! speak to your vet about it as you can only get it from them!

I use hoof boots in the winter when she cant keep shoes on. I feed her Forumla 4 Feet and get a 20k sack from a web site on ebay for about £76 and they were really good and helpful will try and find the name

Get your shoes glued on at alternate times. So shoes glued on then the when next due to be shod, nail as normal etc etc. Worked a treat for my mare with crap feet. Also biotin and keratex

I'm having the same problem, 3 weeks after being shod, he's lost a front shoe and 2 others are loose. My geldings feet are so brittle, I feed biotin and apply kevin bacon hoof dressing to keep his hooves moist. It seemed to be doing the trick earlier in the year but now his feet are a nightmare. I've been told to feed him limestone flour but his feed already has this in, so i don't know if I should. I'm also going to strat putting keratex on his feet as well i think, it can only help.

I have the problem that George is so heavy footed that the clenches keep rising and you can only bang them down so many times before they break off, so the farrier is constantly coming to put new nails in, his hooves will be all hole soon.

I've been using Old Mac boots instead of shoes so that his feet can get stronger. They last ages and work out cheaper than constant farrier visits.
