A bit of a strange request but I'm wondering if anyone knows about Services jumping competitions? I'm not sure if they still run competitions for members of the police, army, navy etc to compete against each other in. If there is, I'm trying to figure out how to get involved as it's something I'd like to do but wondered if it was restricted to members of the mounted division rather than regular officers? Any help would be most appreciated :-)

hi, at windsor they do a class which is 1m, i compete every year and its for all sevices including police, i do it as a part of my school combined cadet force, and its amazing fun and great experience we even do a parade for the queen! i can't recommend it highly enough, though you are restricted to 3 members a team not the usual 4 which is a bummer.
we even jump in the main arena and the course is nice and flowing no tight turns as it started just for horses in the services but they opened it up to ccf ect a few years ago.
this will be my last year of doing it :(

also you don't need to qualify which is even better!!!:p

I don't think they are restricted to mounted branches, my partner use to work with an RAF lady who now events but used to do them? She was a Capt. and a physiotherapist.

Hi. They still have services jumping competition st Olympia every year so I assume there is a qualifying series.

Not sure how you get involved tho but it's definitely still running

I'm quite sure they are not restricted to mounted divisions. My son goes to a school with strong Naval links and they are allowed to enter a team in the Services class at Windsor. The thing I don't know though is whether they take individual entries or just team ones. You could have a look at last year's entries and see if you are eligible for any of the teams that entered - that may be a starting point anyway. :)

Thanks, I'll see if I can find out if Hertfordshire police have a team already and see how I can either try out for the team or set one up if we haven't got one

Windsor, blue lights show are ok gor police. You cant do Olympia if you qualify if in police it is for army navy and airforce. My friend won qualifier but wasnt allowed to compete. They used to a show at Melton but not sure if it still runs

Ah that's a shame but it still sounds good. Anyone know the entry costs or any info like that? I'm going to get in touch with the show to see if I can get some rules through
