I ordered a new girth from SES Equestrian last Friday for £50 paid via paypal. I received a confirmation e-mail stating delivery 5-7 days, perfectly normal. Its now 7 days and no girth, not particularly late but thought I'd ring them to check if evertythings OK and the number which is an 0800 number is "no longer in use". Did a search online and got a mobile number and landline number but not entirly sure if it's the same SES Equestrian. Rang the moble - unobtainable, rand the landline - just goes to andswerphone. Replied to the e-mail, which it states you can, and it;s bounbced back as undeliverable!! Have I lost my £50:-( The link to their website is http://www.ses-equestrian.co.uk/ Has anyone else every ordered from them? Please help as I don't know what to do. Will Paypal redund if it's a dodgy company?

if you dont get any joy paypal should refund but make sure you get the claim in within 30 days....I know to my cost that waiting too long means no money!

And just a warning for those paying by credit card via paypal and thinking they have credit card protection over £100 purchase, you dont (again from bitter experience). Cos you are paying paypal, the credit card co (well mine anyway) say that they did their service so no direct contract with the seller. Not convinced by this but thats what I got. So make sure you get those paypal claims in quick!

I think you are asking for trouble ordering from a site that has no address. Even if they are internet only, you should still be able to see their contact details, a proper landline no & an address to write to. I am afraid it looks dodgy to me

Just open a claim through Paypal and you will get your money back no problem. I'd open a dispute you may find the item arrives then!

I ordered a bridle from them last year, and had the same problem trying to contact them. I also thought I had lost my money, then the bridle arrived in the post, just what I wanted.

Agree with that. Ebay is very much in favour of the buyer. I've been on both sides (I have claimed for a few undelivered items but also had people claim I never sent items when I did and even showed Ebay evidence by way of a proof of posting but they wouldnt have it, they refunded the money so I was left without the item and without payment!).

MagicMelon - with Ebay, it's always best to just send items "signed for". The post is useless these days. The seller may have sent, but if the postman does not leave a card, the buyer would never know a delivery had been attempted...

Have order from SES Equestrian several times over the past couple of years - and each time without a problem. I think they have recently moved as the numbers on there are showing as old ones?

I wouldn't worry though because as a buyer you are protected anyway by Paypal - just as with any debit/credit card transaction on the internet.

Wish I had read this thread before ordering £67 worth of stuff from them in June - chased them in July and they told me that they were expecting a delivery from their supplier - went on holiday came back in August chased them again - several e-mails later they eventually say that they had posted it in July - must have got lost in post !!! No e-mail saying they had despatched it - I gather I am too late to claim via paypal now - what can I do ?

Distance selling companies must comply with certain laws, and sounds like this company is not.

Read this leaflet from The Office of Fair Trading, which is aimed at the seller, but useful for buyers.

http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/business_leaflets/general/oft698.pdf

'You must give your consumers certain information before they agree
to buy from you. We refer to this as pre-contractual information which
includes the following.
(i) Your identity including sufficient detail for the consumer to be
able to identify the business they are dealing with.

(vi) If payment is required in advance, you must supply your full
geographic address....'

With particular note to this bit:

3.36 Where goods are lost in transit from you to the consumer you will
need to either send new goods or offer the consumer a full refund,
including delivery charges. See paragraph 3.20 for more information

Saying an item is 'lost in the post' is the oldest trick in the book!

They exist just don't like complying with the Sale of Goods Act and the Distance Selling Act, both of which require you to publish your business address and contact phone details on your website. Try this phone number for them 01308 458759 found on a google search for them as they are definitely based in Dorset. They also trade on ebay but only have a 98% rating with a phone number 0800 098 8322, but no recent sakes, and all of their feedback is private, they must have alot to hide. I would also phone your local trading standards office and report them. They give bone fide businesses a bad name. As the previous posts say this business is not trading within the law, but unless people report them to the relevant authorities they will continue to flout the law.

I am on the case again - will try trading standards however I think that they are on the verge of committing crimes .I certainly know of people on e-bay that are being prosecuted for lesser offences. I have a good friend in trading standards here so will go that route - I did have another address for them up north which I was advised to send a registered letter to and they were not known at that address !!!

I will not give up £68 is a lot of money to me and my daughter was really looking forward to getting the stuff - this has not been my experience of the horsey world to date

Info to Trading Standards at your local council as soon as possible

If they have just moved communications could be dodgy but you would expect the mobile to be OK.
If fees are not paid on web sites the plug is soon pulled but odd the older? web site still working or has the business been cloned?
Too many questions!
