Setting up a yard

First and foremost a tame handy man...:D

All usual horse stuff, mucking out kit.
More buckets than you think you will need.
If you haven't got it a farriery kit can be useful, at the very least a rasp, a hammer and buffer.

Right...that's over with, now the stuff you really need.

Hose pipe/s
Small Hammer
Bigger Hammer
Very Big Hammer
Wire/bolt cutters - everyone should have these.
Other tools (handy man will tell you)
Duct tape
String
Ladder
Saws - hand, power or chain, probably all three
Plumbing stuff
Tape of various sizes, colours and uses.
WD40
Scissors
Craft knife
Various nails, screws, etc - you will acquire these as and when the need arises.
Containers to keep them in.
First aid kit is useful but actually the equine one will have practically everything you need in it for yourself anyway.
Padlocks?
Strimmer, lawn mower.
Oh, and get a few pairs of those safety glasses - a must have for strimming etc.
Paint brushes and thinner etc.

Put it like this, my workshop has about 2 miles of electric tape in it, rolls of wire, a massive roll of system fencing that hasn't been used yet, various energisers, and the bits and pieces needed for fencing, wire cutters, bolt cutters, branch cutters, axes, chainsaws, various power drills, saws etc, there is also 8 cats, a couch, a huge mirror (?) and God alone knows what else.

Most importantly... Kettle, tea, coffee, some sort of heater, something to sit on

Have fun, your own yard is like a new home...enjoy it.

If you haven't got stuff no worries, don't go out and buy it all, you'll collect what you need in good time.

Amazing list :-) You must know the yard we are moving to with all those power tools. Kettle and coffee are very high priority. Have a milking goat, so there is always fresh milk.

So excited, can not wait.

Start up a collection of spare fence posts...
A large tool box, so you can find all the bits in your essential tool kit quickly.
Washing up liquid
Mugs
A table for the kettle/essential brewing up facilities (we got ours off freecycle)
Some spanners in useful sizes...
The tool that turns off the water at the meter (OK actually I haven't got one of these yet, but) they sell them in our builders merchant, and I KNOW it will be a useful piece of kit and way better than lying stretched out on the wet gravel fully dress and fairly clean just so I can reach for the stop cock below the meter to turn off the water.
Shelves - I don't think you can have too many!

don't listen to Enfys :p You only need 2 things - duct tape and WD40
things that move and shouldn't - duct tape
things that don't move and should - WD40 :D
enjoy your new yard :)

:D and a hammer!

I was covering all bases.

I only use tape and WD40 too! ;)

Anything else, OH does pdq when I grab a pack of 6" nails and a hammer;):D
