I'm moving into my new yard soon so need to start getting stuff sorted. It's sole use and not been used for a while so a bit of a blank canvas, just looking for ideas of yard/stable/tack room fittings and accessories etc

So far I've been able to think of rug rails and saddle racks.

Also any ideas/advice tips on running your own yard would be fab (I've been in livery for so long I can't remember the last time I was alone)

Thanks

Hay/ straw order list if you provide it.
Several keys cut for the liveries.
Section off storage areas so each livery has their own section for feed/hay etc/wheelbarrow etc
Electric tape, fence posts.
Muck trailer
Tie rings
You could also do a feed order list which I've seen at a livery and thought it was a good idea. Once a week they had a feed delivery from a big feed shop and they'd just write what they needed and add it on to their livery each month.

That's something I didn't think of actually! I have a fabulous farrier however I need to change vets as I am appalled by their current attitude (not concerned that a pony had coliced 3 times in 6 months without any reason) thanks keep them coming

Re keys for liveries. Number them and keep a list if who has which number set of keys. That way when people leave you can mark off when they've returned each set.

Yard/school rules.
Fire point
Yard address and postcode clearly visible on wall somewhere.

Contracts!

I too have just taken on the lease of a yard. There is so much to think about, particularly with regards to land management so I'd say definitely make sure you have enough fencing etc for your needs. It's a good idea to have separate paddock that can be used to seep rate horses initially before allowing them to graze in the same field...this has been invaluable for us and has meant no nasty kicks etc as the the horses have been allowed to get used to each other over the fence.

Make sure you have loads of Haynets!

Get pally with local farmer who will then hopefully top your fields etc. ours keeps the hay and doesn't charge us which we find handy as not a huge amount of space to store hay. He will also take our muck heap and maintain the land around the school when it becomes over grown. We love him!

Radio and kettle!!! VERY important :)

Following! Im in the same boat as you, move into the new yard on sat cannot wait! So far on my list I have got water boiler, hosepipe, kettle, arena marker cones for on the grass, jump wings, poles and fillers when I can afford them! Bridle racks, extra yard tools, emergency tools for emergencys.... thats as far as my list has got so far!

Don't forget a rag fork they are a god send. Decent wheel barrow. Lots if electric tape and posts you will always use it. Hooks loads of them. So much stuff to hang up. Kettle for when the tap is frozen. A hose. More water buckets thanot you think as they
Can break easily. Feed buckets. Bins. A good first aid kit.
Padlocks. Somewhere to store rugs so the rats don't chew them.
