Settling in a new dog

I found it quite funny (the derailment from the poor OP, that is), though it will no doubt be held up as another 'AAD is a big bitchy clique' example. :p

Have been spending a lot of time on the Mumsnet dog forum of late (hi Booboos! :p) and they are considered even bitchier, to the extent that a lot of people refuse to post dog questions there at all because of the weird harridans that inhabit it. What is it about dog people? :D

AAD is only a big bitchy clique when people spout ill-informed tripe, of the kind that cannot be fed to a dog as a delicious reward or bulking up feed:p

Although I did like the assertion that Cayla has no pets and therefore should not be listened to on this issue:D:D:D

Lol...that was my favourite bit too:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I thought it was a cool post, it never really went of track like some posts have :D:D

Wow - excellent post!
Ive just been shown this by a poster who answered by question re my anxious rescue who came to us yesterday.
I am so so pleased I have read this and early enough to be able to help him properly !
I have been doing it all wrong - though thankfully for only 24 hours.

Right - hes settled on the couch and I am going for a bath, shuttign the door and leaving him down here - alone! Omg I was letting him follow me to the bathroom, even leaving the door openso he could see me lol

Ty so so mcuh from me and my new dog who really needs this to be his forever home so deserves me "manning up" and stopping pussyfootying around him.

Ive never had a new "older " dog before let alone a rescue -my last dog id had since he was 6 weeks old (he was pts 8 weeks ago due to a painful spinal condition) so this is very new to me.

Ty again - OMG I love this forum! :D:D:D

Glad you've found it useful :) for example - we've had our 12 month old rescue now for a mere week and today she had an hours' solid play with our Golden Retriever and is getting the hang of toilet training. We thought she might be started with seperation anxiety but sticking to our guns for a week, she's proved us wrong and gets better every day :)
good luck with your rescue!
K x

ty all - no other problems at all!
Hes very well toilet trained, eating well, no looking to chew anything he shouldnt.
Playing, friendly, not even bothered by the fireworks! - it was just this one issue which thanks to your fab advice i know I can soon deal with
