Our new horse came two days ago and he’s been unsettled in the field. Wants to make friends with the other geldings and their ignoring him
Already had to move him into a different field because one of the geldings was biting and rearing at him
We brought him out of the field to check him over but he was highly strung and wanted to go back out again
Is this normal will he settle down with the others
How long should we leave him in the field someone told me bringing them in and out of the field in the first few days is not a good idea because it disturbs the hierarchy again
Never had this with our mare she got on with her herd very quickly & kept herself to herself

He’s settled in another field with 2 other chilled geldings and there’s been no issues over night
Would you just leave him in n the field or do you think we’re ok to bring him out and spend some time grooming him

If he is settled with the chilled out geldings, get him into the routine that he will be in going forward. He will undoubtedly be unsettled initially but keep at it and he should begin to settle. If your intention is to bring him in daily to do something with him, then do that straight away.
