Yup i get it! How long was that on for? Do you think it made much difference? My vets been brilliant about the bill, answering all my questions, coming out on short notice and hes good looking
Did you're venter do the degloving too or just the tendon? Interested to know if the damage to the skin affected them later on too. I've finally found a few people with experience with this! Only found a few until I joined this group!
Hiya my TB has done the same injury this past week so many people are telling me he wont return to work and told me to look at euthanasia which im absolutely not doing unless he has no quality of life.Hi, I'm new here but figured I may as we'll post!
My 10yo TB decided to run through a fence, degloving his cannon none, slicing his extensor tendon and the ligaments that surround it. He's been on box rest for the last 3.5months with a few Inhand walks. He knuckled over in the first week or so, but has been quite good since, he will do it if he's not concentrating.
We had a small surface infection around the 6 week mark, his stitches popped after nine days which was disappointing but not a lot we could do. He has been bandaged since it happened as he is a muppet. I'm not sure how to post pictures on here.
We had about 25% skin die off which we were quite lucky wasn't more. He is now on restricted turnout, he's feeling frisky but can't delay it forever. He has been a good patient, but the tendon was NOT stitched back together.
Has anyone dealt with similar and was your horse ever ridden again? Thanks! If I knew how to post pics I would. We are still healing the actual wound. He is having 2-3months to strengthen up in the paddock before he starts any form of physical work.![]()

Hes been in hospital they have stitched the wound partially and bandaged, they recommened having him in a cast for a month and being cross tied but he would not have dealt with that well hes on 5 bless him.
Anyway im waffling hes home now healing well and having regular bandage changes and hopefully stitches out next week.
I see your post was a good while ago did your horse recover ? Could you ride them again ? Any advice or tips at all.
I only got him in august and had just got his weight and muscle up so was very excited for next year absolutely gutted all due to other liverys getting there horses in and not notifying me.
