Was laid in bed last night listening to the traffic outside splashing through the puddles. I had the terrible thread on my mind of the poor horse and rider that were hit this last week. I was thinking how easy it is for a horse to spook at the sound of the puddle and spin etc. I found myself having a wobble before I even got on this morn. Everything seemed potentially dangerous. MY chap has his moments but is generally 100% to hack and it's the first time I have felt that bad in all the years I have ridden, 30 plus. Luckily we only met 2 plonkers out of all of the traffic that passed and horse didn't put a foot wrong.

Was anyone else affected like this are reading that tragic thread?

I am.
I'm quite sensitive to other people's problems and often end up shook up and/or worried. Hope you feel more relaxed soon!

Yes. I am nervous in traffic anyway, not because my horse is worried by it, just because I think some drivers don't give much thought to horses out on the road. That poor horse and rider...it's just so heart breaking.

I slow right down when passing horses and today a placid looking hunter got a spook when i drove through a puddle doing less than 5mph, rider laughed luckily

If I let the idea of every bad thing that could happen get to me I would never do anything! Accidents happen, all you can do is try to minimise the risks but an accident is still going to happen. Hopefully it will never happen to you or I but life is for living so try to think of all the people that do everything they want every day without anything bad happening to them.

Last week I nearly ended up on the ground when a car drove through a puddle. She was only doing about 20mph but the noise gave him the fright of his life and he catleaped forwards - had I not seen it coming and prepared myself I most likely would have come off!

So easy done, but like ridefast says, if you let the fear of something bad happening get to you then you will never do anything.
