shall i buy a new rug or get my old ones reproofed?

i hve 2 lightweight turnouts which leak and it will cost me almost £43 to get them done professionally. or should i buy one new rug which will costs me the same anyway?

If you shop around you can find places a lot cheaper than that, i cost me just over £20 to get 2 of mine washed and reproofed.

any suggestions as to where? everywhere else i've tried wont collect less than 10 rugs at a time and are too far away for me to get them there anyway.

Where are you? I'm in Cambs so unless your nearish me I guess the ones I use will probably be too far away...sorry not very helpful!

If they are only LWs then why not wash them yourself in your washing machine with some Nikwax Rug wash (£9.99 and does about 5-6 rugs) and then with Nikwax Rug Reproofer (£11.99 and does 2 rugs)

Thats what I am going to do this year as like yourself have got fed up of paying a fortune out to get them washed and reproofed.

The reason I say the Nikwax is because I have heard good things about it.
Just a thought.
Oh and BTW I am not the owner of the Nikwax company or have any ties to it whatsoever!!

i used nikwax on these 2 rugs and after the first use on a rainy day, they were damp inside. not saying nikwax doesnt work, perhaps i did it wrong. i've jst found a rug wash company near me thats cheaper thx. cobwebs saddlery in chailey, if anyone knows them.

I would buy new ones, you can get some decent light weights off ebay for a reasonable price. Also its fun to horsey shop
