Again, please dont be upset or hurt. LIke I said before, there are many of us who cant lose the habit of making everyhting a debate on this part of the forum.

As a fellow anti, I admit that I do get disheartened that pros generally attack every argument or proposition with the reply that antis dont know enough about hunting or foxes to have an opinion .... or an opinion worth listening to.... but it happens all the time and it's not specifically aimed at you. By the way, pros only say that so they have an excuse for not reading the anti argument properly and making a sensible reply.....

.... the game continues..... :)

double sigh.
"Have I not said over and over again that the law has not been tested in the courts yet ?"

But of course RS you are wrong the law has been tested in court. It defined flushing out in exactly the same way as I do. It defined chasing as illegal although you claim not even to know if it is.

Good laws are clear laws, their terms should be clear to those who have to obey them. They shouldn't have to wait to get prosecuted before they can have the faintest idea what the law is.

Meanwhile is flushing out cruel? Is refusing to shoot an animal that is flushed out cruel?

We all know that the answer to both these questions is NO.

So what, until an appeal decides otherwise the case stands.

The idea that one cannot criticise or form an opinion of a law, or even know what it is until it's been through court is a nonsense.

What about the three thoudsand odd new crimes, do we have ton wait for each of these to come to court so that the 'terms are defined.'?

Why do us 'anti's' always get stereotyped by some of you pros?

I think the hunting ban is bad law - badly written, unenforcable and a waste of money.

Personally I would never go hunting, shooting or fishing. I don't understand the enjoyment element of killing a living creature. But I can understand the need for control. I'd much rather see licenced marksmen being paid to control foxes than packs of hounds. You can argue round and round the statistics about the relative effectiveness of each and never get anywhere depending on where you get your figures from but my wish would be to never have packs of hound chasing any animal. If an effective ban could be drawn into legislation I'd support it - however I'm not sure its possible as the law can be a huge ass.... certainly a pain in one.

I'd settle for a compromise of the close licencing of hunts that was favoured initially

What makes you think I'm a pro. Sounds as though you might be doing a little stereotyping.

It's perfectly possible to have an effective law against cruelty. I'd support that and have long campaigned for one.

Why do us pros always get stereotyped? Do you really think thats why we hunt/shoot/fish? For the enjoyment of killing?

Definately not, if it was I'd work in a slaughterhouse and earn money at it instead of paying to hunt/shoot/fish!

"and round the statistics about the relative effectiveness"

I don't think many pros claim that foxhunting is effective. We know better than that. It is however humane, surely that is the most important subject regarding culling foxes?

As a reader rather than a participant on this forum I feel compelled to comment.Regardless of
your veiws,be they pro or anti,no one can accuse Combat Claire of being anything other than
friendly, helpful and articulate. The latter is in short supply on this board of late so it would be a
pity to loose her.

OK, let's play this scene as usual...

So, what is the enjoyment that you get out of hunting ?

Sorry A_A My post wasn't aimed at you... I think if you do the quick reply thing it automatically looks like you've replied to the last person that posted. No stereotyping intended... and I did only say some pros... definitely not all

This threads grown really wide!

I don't for a moment assume that pros hunt/shoot/fish for the enjoyment of killing... I think you misunderstood me or rather I didn't explain myself clearly. What I meant was that I couldn't enjoy an activity that's ultimate aim is to kill an animal i.e. the enjoyment is in the taking part in an activity where an animal may end up dying. Does that make more sense... probably not but I tried!
