Shameless, show-offy, not very edifying thread . . .

I am high as a kite.

Rode my boy today. First time in six weeks. He was sound! Yes, he's on bute. Yes, we stayed mostly in walk (except when he had a tantrum and decided to either canter on the spot or jog/trot) . . . but this is the best he's been for at least two months and I have tortured myself with worst case scenarios.

My gorgeous (yes, I am biased) boy has quite literally saved my life . . . without him, this winter, I am not sure what I would have done. He gets me up and out of the house every day, the way he calls me to me whenever he hears me stomping up the yard warms my heart (and, yes, I know it's cupboard love), his neck is big, strong and warm and perfect for hugging/having a good cry against . . . he trusts me and I trust him. I couldn't be happier.

Life is tough for us right now . . . I'm not working, but thankfully OH is. That lovely grey horse really has been a huge beacon for me. And I'm so, so glad that he's on the mend.

Thank you for listening/reading.

Wonderful news! :D
I read your post earlier saying you were riding him later today, so glad we didn't need to call the air ambulance! So glad you are happy, there's nothing quite like loving our horses, is there? :):)

Lovely story :) :) So glad he's now sound!! :D
horses manes make the best tear absorbers!!
Very very happy for you! :D

Thank you, but he's still on bute. I will dance naked in the street when he's sound without bute . . . but, yes, we're on the right track. And yes, horses manes/necks are the best hankies.

I just love him so much . . . as we all do our neddies.

Thank you.

Oh, I am so happy . . . I wasn't ready to retire my dear boy, although I would have if that's what he needed . . . and, yes, horse love is quite unique . . . my husband tries really hard to understand, bless him.

That actually brought a tear to my eye.

That's what horse-ownership should be about - mutual trust, and partnership.

So glad that he is feeling better - wishing you all the best

Oh what a lovely thing to say :). Thank you.

P.S. Edited to say - that was for Spanish Eyes.

Hooray for both of you :) don't know your circumstances but really happy for you...isn't it funny how our big hairy darlings complete our lives xx

Thank you very much. He was recently diagnosed with navicular after a while of intermittent lameness.

And, yes, it's amazing how important they become to us.
