Can anyone recommend a good one?

I say both palominos and duns because the poneh is somewhere in between those two colours...

Ah, you don't need shampoo - the beauty of duns is they are mud coloured!! Lol. I love having a dun!!

I just use Johnsons baby on mine to be honest. However, I did see on a recent trip to Derby House Saddlery they had a load of shampoos for all different coloured horses so they may be worth a try?

mines a lot lighter than that but I use tesco shampoo the pink one but (comes in apple and teatree as well), smells great lasts for days and makes him look good

I use baby shampoo on all of mine none of this colour shappo for horses, so expensive and to be honest i have never noticed a difference.
If it is safe for a babies skin then it'll be fine on a horse.

Supreme Products do a shampoo for palominos which I'm going to try on my dun baby at some point, but as the others have said, one of the best things about them is that they don't show the dirt! It's a huge relief after five seasons of showing an increasingly whiter grey! Troy loves to roll in poo, but it mostly just brushes off or comes out with a flick of a water brush....

The one thing I have noticed with mine is that he has quite a thick and coarse mane and tail, and although we pretty much leave them alone in the winter, I have not been able to resist putting a bit of Tailgator's conditioner in to minimise the birds nest effect! He also has a wild and wooly forelock, made worse by wearing a hood in the really cold weather and conditioner is gradually getting this under control....

Your guy is very cute!

You could try a Blonde/Highlights shampoo. The Palomino shampoos (if you wanted a horse specific one) could be used on Buckskin and have pretty much the same effect. In which case, go for Gallop. Smells great and really works :)
Unless you want to enhance colour (Darker? Lighter?) then you really should be looking at normal shampoos.

i was just going to say the same!!!! have stable full of grey ponies and one gorgeous little dun sect b. guess which one the kids choose to get ready to go out. however grubby she always looks totally perfect~~~~the dirt really doesnt show. I buy tesco or asda cheapest shampoo and pour it into washing up liquid bottles so kids dont dollop whole pot for one wash. we do loads of washing ponies and our system has worked for years. when we go to shows i take either winemaking bucket with sealed lid or 5~10 litre plastic containers with very hot water with shampoo already in. it stays warm best part of day and brilliant to get rid of stains. couldnt afford to buy shampoo for different colours etc and even if only had one to wash probably wouldnt bother.
