Can you please recommend a dog shampoo that not only cleans but makes my dog smell lovely? She usually smells like wet dog once I have shampooed her. Any help would be appreciated!

I have only bathed mine once in a year and the shampoo I chose was Loreal Kids. It extra gentle soothing Lavender no tears/no knots.

I put a couple of drops of lavender essential oil in the final rinse and they smelt bootiful and because lavender is calming I thought it would help.

They did smell nice though and their coat was so soft.:)

Oh, I can help you :) I'm a dog groomers assistant and we use this stuff to wash all but the extremeley sensitive dogs.

It smells like apple blossom and will last you forever. I also use it on my horse and literally only put a drop in the bucket and it does all of him :) this is definitely the best value for money.

Alternatively you could wash in normal shampoo then use a doggy perfume (this is my favourite http://www.christiesdirect.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=890 ) which will really make him smell lovely for ages :) Whal do a nice range of shampoos too, just stay away from ones like pethead and superdog because they are expensive and a load of **** :p

ETA if you want to try shampoos before if your dog has sensitive skin or whatever, if you email the company, they will usually send you a little sample bottle so you can have a sniff first :)

wash him twice! the first will clean him but still smell of wet dog. the second full wash full shampoo will actually get him clean. rinse very well. finish with a cool/cold rinse. and for the very smelly a final rinse with a very dilute solution of brown vinegar. are you sure its his coat that smells not his pads on his feet?

Groomers do a lavender and camomile I think it is, it smells lovely for ages after bathing

Wahl Dirty Beastie can be used on dogs, that smells lovely but remember to dilute it

Pet Head do a lovely range

We like the Dermoline insecticidal for horses,it has a lovely fresh appley smell, and is a great insect killer as well. Our clients dogs just got a spray with Lynx before going home.Seemed to impress!

Thanks again. Yes I am sure she smells as she is a scottie and low to the ground so picks up all sorts of creatures and shrubbery. :)
