Share/loan horse or riding school lessons? [long, lmao]

OK, before i start i dont want anyone saying that maybe i dont deserve a share horse if im doubting it, and stuff, i dont want critisizm, i dont want to feel any more confused and annoyed than i am now.

OK. so i have a share horse on trial. hes wonderful in most ways, [is a monkey to put a bridle on- but i got there eventually LOL, and never seems to get the right striding into a jump- whatever i do..] but apart from that hes perfect. But i have heard from his owner that the yard owner is very strict, im not allowed to jump higher than 2ft ish without an instructor there with me [costing at extra £15 to what my parents are paying], im not allowed to be left alone when riding [which i can understand to some extent, but they have a large school, so its not in fields or anything] and im never allowed to get pictures or videos, despite the fact he will be MY loan horse.

I don't know, maybe i'm being fussy and just nit-picking, but i don't want to have a loan horse that i can barely do anything with, without someone coming and telling me off. I'm scared to do something wrong incase the yard owner comes and shouts at me or something, even though i'm more than capable of the jobs required, and im normally pretty confident.

Im not sure whether i should just continue riding at the riding school, which i love at the moment- i'm improving every lesson and riding some amazing horses, Or go for the loan horse, which is such a good oppurtunity and new experience.

Please be aware im only 14, and this is my first share/loan.
 
does your local riding school loan horses ? i work at a riding school all are riding school ponies / horses are available for loan !

remeber when you make your decishion why you want to ride ? and the most important thing is that you have fun and enjoy yourself cant understand why you not aloud to take videos / photos ??

Moving on... are those the rules of the livery yad owner of the horse's owner? Because it seems really odd that anyone would keep their horse at a yard where what they do with their horse is dictated to them like that.

Do these rules apply to everyone or just you? Perhaps its an insurance thing.
 
I think the YO is perfectly sensible. You are not an adult so I'm afraid your parents should be there to supervise. The jumping thing is probably in case you (as some other teens would, not saying you) put the jumps up higher and higher and fall off.
 
I think that the best thing to do is, stay at the riding school and wait/look for another share horse.

The rule about photos is absolutly ridiculous, if you want to take a picture of the horse then you should be allowed.
Everyone wants to show off their horse!!!!

The rule about jumping and riding alone, if it's to do with insurance then fair enough - but I wonder whether it's the horses owner telling you a fib, maybe she doesn;t want you to jump higher or has reservations about leaving you alone but feels embrassed to tell you.
You will end up being on tenderhooks the whole time you are at the stables and very soon you will be torn because you love the horse but are scared to tend to it!!!
If you wait another horse WILL come up and should hopefully be somewhere you can relax and have fun.

sorry but I have to agree with TripleSandH here.

I share my horse with a thirteen year old girl and the yard rules state that she cannot be left unaccompanied on the yard for insurance purposes. I think that your YO is merely being sensible to be honest, although i have to say that the rule about photographs is a bit OTT - can't understand that at all.
 
Do you have rider insurance? Maybe that way they would be ok with it. BHS Junior Gold membership is £40 and includes insurance. Its worth discussing it a little more with them.

Well, tbh i dont think i would like to be left on the yard without a parent, but i dont think im allowed to ride if someone isnt at the gate watching me. I thought perhaps my sister or my could poo pick [LOL] whilst i rode, or something like that, but its very strict.
Yeah, i did kinda think that perhaps the owner was telling me that it was the YO bcos she didnt want to embarrass herself/me, but i truely think its the YO being difficult.
I'm currentl comfortable jumping 2ft3-2ft6, and wouldnt dare go higher with the horse, incase of injury etc. But i dont want to pay £15 just to jump higher than 2ft. :/

Its not as if im a novice, or immature. Im perfectly capable and im not childish or anything when riding/handling the horse.

I think im going to continue with the trial, but unless these next two weeks completely change my opinion on the YO, horse etc, i doubt i'll be continuing. Which is such a shame cos i have been looking for MONTHS for a share/loan horse :/
