Share your weekend achievements - large or small

I did my first ever cross country jumps! My friend and I went to a local uk chasers course for a nice hack and some jumping if there was anything small and inviting and we ended up jumping 5 jumps and my last one was a fairly substantial log and it felt like we were flying over it I loved it :)

Well done to everyone else what a successful weekend we have all had!

I managed my first 2 trip totally by myself in the trailer. Hitching up, loading and back with no help. Doesn't sound a lot but I am nervous about reversing and horse used to be a terrible loader (think 2+ hours of rearing) lots of friendly people around to help but I didn't need it:)
Means I can get out and about a lot more since I don't need to bribe people to come everytime.
 
My new horse was so accepting of my leg on our ride tonight- previously she has rushed off whenever she has felt even the slightest touch of my lower leg/ heel but tonight I was able to use my heel in walk and she didn't trot off and in trot and she didn't go into to canter.

So happy!
 
I had a C section a week ago so my achievement was to walk across the field to give my boys a pat and warn the big horse he's on a countdown back into work !!

Very small achievement for most people but it felt pretty big to me!
 
My little pony gave the local MP, Mayor and Lady Mayoress a ride in the governess cart from one charity garden event to another as part of the PR.

He hasn't pulled that cart (and it's a heavy old thing) for about 2 years, and the route totalled about 12 miles, some of which was in tight traffic. Stood stock still for the photo ops, didn't bat an eyelid when we had to stand with a motorbike behind us and parked cars in front waiting for oncoming traffic. In fact, the way he went off voice commands you'd think he spoke English.

Good little pony.
 
I rode bareback for the first time in about 40 years. It was amazing! I had forgotten how lovely it feels. My friend was keen to try it on her sec D - she has never gone bareback - and asked me to go first. He was a star.
 
I rode my youngster in a school today for the first time in well over a year. The last time she said get off in no uncertain terms and I did - I don't bounce any more being in my 50s I just go splat so have hacked instead. This brings things into a new horizon and now I can book lessons ......
 
I took my ned to his second ever showing show (to do his first ever WH!). He behaved extremely well and went great, which was all I wanted. He was 2nd in his working hunter which was good and he jumped beautifully, shame I let him go a bit too much in the gallop as I couldn't really stop...! Really pleased with him though. Considering this horse has only showjumped all his life until he came to me - so far I'm slowly turning him into an eventer and a show horse ;) He does tend to look a bit baffled when I bring him out of the trailer at these sorts of events, he's like "where's the showjumps?! And what are those fluffy creatures (natives...)?!"

Not necessarily worthy of a pat on the back, but GreyDonkey seems to have shaken off the stiffness, soreness and lameness from earlier in the week that was really, really worrying me . . . so it's back to work for him :).

Lovely thread makes me happy to read everyone's little victories :-)

Today I ran my first combined training event and all seemed to go smoothly with no complaints other than SJ warm up needs to be bigger ...... :D

Then hacked my formerly nappy cob out on his own and he was perfect :-) and even managed a few strides of a lovely steady trot on the road without making him hobble (recently barefoot arthritic horse ......) so a very happy day today :-)
 
Went for a longest hack yet(more then 3h) with hubby and little one(5 yo)! He had loads of canter off the lead rein,was happy but shattered:) And today both hubby and me cantered Huge Horse aka Teddy in school over canter poles(big big achievement!!!coz its impossible to lift him into canter in school)! Unfortunately no pictures of Teddy,but there some of yesterdays hack and todays schooling.

Miyaz and I went to Bakewell pleasure ride and had a super awesome time. I don't know if that counts as an achievement, or just one of those things that means a lot to me because its a beautiful ride and he's a very good boy who does his job. :)
 
Two short schooling sessions at home, but in both of them I noticed a tiny bit of improvement :) I'm happy with that!
 
I went clear around the novice mandm workers track. I still can't believe iv done it. I am a total nervous wreck jumping but a supportive oh and a large glass of magners works a treat. Plus a brilliant pony and a great instructor.
 
Went on 25 mile ride with a friend up the mountain, got lost in the process in the pouring down rain but my little one was so well behaved. But the best thing was my hoof boots stayed on the way around. Such a happy bunny and one tired horse :-)
 
I cantered my mare under saddle for the first time in well over 18 months this morning! :D
She has had one lameness after the other for the past couple of years, and every time she starts getting somewhere fitness wise, something else goes. Think we have got to the underlying cause know though.
I wouldn't normally contemplate cantering her this early, still just re-introducing short bursts of trot in an hours hack, but have come to the conclusion, at the age of 21, with all her wonky legs, each ride could be her last, and if she feels she is capable of doing it, she can.
She seemed very puzzled that I was telling her she was allowed to go faster, but once she'd actually run into canter, she was off, ears so pricked the tips were nearly touching, zigzagging from one side of the track to the other as she happily spooked her way along. Sure she was still smiling to herself tonight.

Took the trailer and horror loading horse out for the first time on my own, he loaded like a gent

Took him to his first indoor jumping at local scary equestrian centre, fell off and got eliminated but finding the positives - for his first time out he behaved superbly, the fall was my fault and the elimination has just shown how green he actually is! Horse needs out to see more as he turned into a very green baby as soon as we started our round.

Lots of positives though :)
 
What a great thread, lovley too see so many achievements, big and small. Mine was jumping 70cm in the school, biggest I've done in a long time. Very pleased with our lovely boy, :D
 
We acheived a 2nd in our area dressage competition today :) got a very well deserved 72% !! Hard work does pay off :) lots of nice comments from the judges.

Great to read everybody's posts - well done everyone!! :)
 
I didnt strangle either of my big boys, which given the way they have behaved all week a bluddy miracle, never mind achievement. .!!!! :rolleyes:

On another note, I have a small herd of mini shetlands and I managed to catch a tiny 28" filly for a bit of a love and a groom...she is very shy :D
 
Some very minor achievements Pony did a fair dressage test after being a pain to get on the bit she now thinks doing it is an excuse to shorten the stride and lose rhythm:rolleyes:
Dumped her rider in the warm up arena twice then decided ok she could jump on grass little princess was so upset by the uneven ground
Then made a pigs ear of the 100cm only jumping the hardest trickiest skinny with an arrow head filler properly every thing else was to be demolished as they were light plastic poles and made a lovely noise when they fell.
Cant say it was an inspiring start to a week when she is doing her first HOYS workers this week Oh well see what that day brings
 
My 5 year old mare who I have owned for VERY sort time went like a pro :D

Finally managed to canter without any bucking on the one rein and by myself haven't done since 2011 due to various problems

Other rein still a lost cause so getting it investigated :(
 
We did a soft balanced canter on both reins in the school instead of our habitual speedway impression and I was so chuffed I had to tell everyone I spoke to. He was a star!
