sharer - advice needed

Ok, so I have advertised my horse for share and have someone coming to ride her tomorrow as a potential sharer. She sounds really nice and honest and far more competent than me so thats good!

Just need some advice on what I should do for the next bit. Do I warm my horse up for her or just let her get on with it and assess her ability from scratch knowing that my horse is going to be a bit of a wombat to start with? Do I tell her what she might do? I have already told her what her quirks are on the phone!

I would let her do EVERYTHING - including tacking up/picking out feet and washing off afterwards etc (if required!). You need to know she is competent and can look after your horse outside of when she is sitting on its back. I would just let her ride get on with it and watch what she does. I would also advocate her doing some flatwork and put up a jump or two for her (if she/pony jumps) then maybe a little hack up the road etc. It is usual when trying out a horse to let the tryer see the horse ridden with its current owner so you may want to get on him first before she does.

i would actually disagree. for this time i would do what you would do if selling a horse- so you tack up, get on horse first and then get the potential sharer to have a ride- in the school and then maybe a short hack. then if you like them and they like you/ horse arrange for them to come back- then get them to do EVERYTHING from scratch good luck
