I am getting a new sharer for my horse and wondered if I should have a contract? Also are there any templates of what I should include in it?

I have had my best mate share my horse for almost 3yrs but she is now pregnant so has given him up. I never felt the need to have anything it writing as I trusted her 110%.

I really just wondered if it is usual practice to have a contract or not?

Definatly. I never had and then we got into a whole big disagreement when they decided to move the horse to a different stable. In their opinion I still had to do the month agreed before I could drop it, in my opinion they broke the spoken contract by moving.

A contract would have stopped a lot of problems.

Sharing is a bit of a minefield. I guess a contract means everyone knows where they stand. I am a sharer (never had a contract, though) and have had some problems along the way. At least a contract gets everything down in black and white, so if you have problems, it may help to sort them out.
