I have been sharing a TB for a couple of months now (twice a week) and am loving it! The owner is really lovely, she needs a sharer because she's pregnant but she still does the mucking out etc- I offer every time but she wants the exercise :)

He is having his teeth done on Wednesday and I was wondering if I would be interfering if I asked if I could come and watch? I've never seen a horse have his teeth done before and really want to learn as much as I can.

This may seem like such a stupid question but I dont want to come across too attached/clingy/interfering/in the way sort of thing

I think if I were the owner I would be delighted you were taking an interest in all sides of the horse - not just the good bits.

I would definitely ask - the worst that can happen is she'd say no...

Course not. It doesn't bother me if anyone wants to come & watch something like that to learn from, but especially not a sharer. I'd be impressed with your attitude.

I'd be delighted too, as would 99% of owners, I would think. You won't come across as clingy, just interested to learn, which is a good thing.

If I had a sharer I would be really happy for them to come and observe. Lots of sharers are just all about the riding and nothing else so it's good that you are taking such an interest in the horse's well being too :)

As others have said I would be impressed and it would make me think that little bit more of you that you were willing and eager to learn.

I think that is a fabulous idea. I have had horses for years and seen horses have their teeth done loads of times, but I still ask loads of questions and love to watch. The dentist came to my new boy last week and he showed me all up inside his mouth, and pointed all the different teeth out etc. It really is interesting, and I have no doubt the horses owner will be more than happy for you to watch. x

don't be scared, just ask, and i'm sure she'll be pleased that you want to learn :)
meanwhile, would you like to come and wrestle my 16hh ISH into submission for the dentist??? :D
Seriously though, the owner will be pleased that you're taking an interest, it is really interesting to watch as well :)

im just worried she may think im trying to get TOO involved, if that makes sense?! hmm maybe i'll ask tomorrow when I go up to ride

Just tell her what you have told us - that you have never seen a horse have its teeth done and that you really want to learn as much as possible, and would she mind if you came up to watch? I'm sure she won't think you are interfering.

Just ask...I always say to 'my owner' (lol) "just say no if you'd rather I didn't but..." so she always knows the options there!

I'm there for the vet, farrier, dentist, have lessons....lol she swears I'm not overbearing though and that she loves having my help with her horses!!

I'm sure she'd be more than happy :)

If it was my horse then I'd be delighted a sharer was taking such an interest - I love watching that sort of thing myself so why shouldn't you want to see it

I've just text her saying "I was wondering, just say if you'd rather I didnt but could I possibly- maybe- come and watch Olly get his teeth done tomorrow. please say if you dont want me to, I dont want to be in the way! I would just like to learn :) but dont mind if you would rather me not be there!"
ahaha what is wrong with me!
