Sharers-a good idea?

Hi,

Just wondered if anyone could give brief pros and cons to sharers. I have 2 horses which I don't have enough time to ride and thought this might be an option, but what could go wrong?!

As long as you get on with and trust your sharer. It means you're a lot more flexible, and still get nearly the same amount of riding time, but don't have to spend as much cash xD
 
I think you can type up a form, get it checked, and get them to sign and date it. You know, something along the lines of 'any injury you recieve from working with the horses is your fault.' xD
 
I am a sharer and I have riders insurance and the owner has horse insurance. That way if I get hurt I can claim on my insurance and if the horse gets hurt the owner can claim. Does that help?
 
That is a help. Thanks. I just want to be sure I've covered off any problems before they arise. Do you contribute to upkeep, and if so how does that work? Have you signed a contract at all, I'm thinking that maybe I need something to say they may be paying me but it is no way buying them part ownership! Oh I'm such a worry wuss!
 
Oh just saw your other questions. I pay half of the upkeep - half of livery, hay, shavings, feed and shoes. I just give her a cheque for £135 each month. The owner pays for vets bills. We have signed a contract, based on the forms on the BHS site.
