As some of you will know I have 2 mares, one which was mine and one my sisters, we've had them since we were young and my sister has lost interest now. Which left me with a big issue as we keep the mares at home and they have severe separation anxiety so I am unable to ride my mare unless I can beg a horsey friend to come along to ride my sisters.
Anyways purely by coincidence we seem to have found a sharer who is extremely willing and desperate to ride and help out. She had her own horses for many years but since having kids has been horse-less for about 4 years. She would love her own horse again but isn't in a position to make the commitment.
So it sounds like a win win situation... but she has asked me on about 2 or 3 occassions now how much am I going to charge and I don't have a clue! Basically the deal is the sharer can come and see both horses and do as she pleases with them but due to the separation issues they can only ride when I can but I am willing to ride 2-3 times during the week (in summer) and 1 day at a weekend and my sister has said she will ride the other day at a weekend and also she will ride if I am away to ensure that we are fair to the sharer (also sharers husband has said if I can't ride he will lead my cob round the village so his wife can still get out- and he has offered to tow my trailer to my uncles sand paddock too so that wife can school, so she should be able to ride most days).
What I have thought is £30 a month to cover shoes for 1 horse (as its £60 a set every 8 weeks) and then for her to do everything for both horses 2 nights a week during winter which would be a huge help as I work late one night a week and I go to my in-laws a different night. Lack of time is a bigger problem, rather than money, as everything is paid for at the moment (but a bit extra would be nice!) does this sound fair?
