Hi all,

So....I moved the pony to London, settling in very nicely, 24hr grazing and being a good sausage!

Anyway, I have been looking for the last couple of weeks for a sharer - when she was down in Sussex it was easy, tons of phone calls....but....I have advertised in various places (inc. tack shops, Friday ad etc etc) and have had one phone call, woman came and said 'didn't look like she did in photos' (it is winter dear), and 'are you going to get rid of those feathers?' - she is Irish! Anyway, I don't think she is going to want her.

So....is it just a bad time of year? THe pony is stabled near Bexley/Chislehurst SE London, which is horsey central. Its pretty cold, but I thought there would be someone wanting a 14.2hh lovely hoss on share!

Any other ideas of where I could advertise? What to do? I really feel bad as can only make it up 4x per week - would like to do less,as I am a final year history student, and sort of have work to do.....

x

How rude of that woman!!

Probably a bad time of year, but if you leave it a few weeks and try again when it starts to get lighter in the evenings (and warmer, supposedly!!) you might have more calls?

Oh, I wish you were closer to me! I'd help you!

If i didn't have April I would bite your hand off as i am very nearby in Greenwich!

What about advertising with some of the riding clubs? I ride with the Civil Service Riding Club and I know the BBC RC are based in London too.
If you want to PM me some details I could ask them to send an email around for you xx

Thanks for the responses - off to work, but will get back to you asap. April, I will pm from work!

Yeah, I figure that I will just do some work with her and try again in March - it is a bit miserable at the moment as so cold, I wouldn't ride if I was a 'happy hacker'!

I have had good experiences advertising with Universities that have ridding clubs (search the Uni site for the sports societies and it should have a link to the ridding club secretary, who, in my experience, should be happy to forward the message to all members). Ridding club members tend to have a bit of experience of ridding (i.e. not total beginners!) and undergraduate students, especially in the Humanities, have free time during the day and weekdays (unless they are taking their finals like you are!).

This website is also dedicated to putting owners and sharers in touch:
http://www.horsetoloan.com/
I've never used it, but it might be helpful

Good luck

Try Frogpool Manor's classifieds on their website if you haven't already - they're free I think, and seem pretty popular. I found a horse to loan on there before but sadly not nearby anymore or I'd jump at the chance to help you out (saying that, if you needed any help in the uni Easter holidays - 4 weeks - feel free to PM me!)
