Hi there,

My hubby is working away during the week now so I am struggling to get riding time in (I have a 2 yr old daughter) and I am considering advertising for a sharer.

Can anyone give me any advice on this please? I don't know the first thing! Would I need different insurance? Would I take a deposit (to cover tack) How much to charge etc etc!

Many thanks for any replies.

i charge 15 aweek and they must have own insurance
i would also draw up a agreement etc how much they pay , whats involved etc etc

I was added onto the owners insurance and paid £20 a week. For that I got use of all the equipment she had and use of the pony 3 days a week including 1 day on the weekend. I was also allowed to take the pony to competitions but had to provide my own transport and buy any extra equipment necessary (for example a velvet showing browband) myself. In return I mucked out, groomed, fed, watered and did all the basic care of the horse for the evening. I wasn't expected to do anything before school.

I wasn't asked to pay for any repairs for tack, but was expected to maintain it.

I didn't have a contract written up at all, but for first horse it would have been useful because it ended badly with an arguement over if I had or hadn't agreed to give a months notice before stopping attending the horse, and if this agreement was broken on there side when they suddenly upped and moved to a different yard.

If you have any other questions, feel free
