If you were on a yard paying livery and paying x amount on top of your DIY livery for use of a stable per month, would you have any concerns if over the summer, your YO asked you if you would mind if it was used?

Ie. a couple of big events are close by so the stable is hired out for the night/weekend to a rider from further afield.

Would you be happy with this arrangement?

I wouldn't mind so long as 1. I didn't need it on those days e.g. planned to be 24/7 turnout anyway and 2. I didn't still pay the usual extra fee for the rent of the stable on those occassions. :)

rent is still the same price.
horse lives out 24/7 but I like to groom him in his stable and keep bits and pieces in his stable.

horsesatemymoney - infection is my concern especially with the cases of EHV that have been in our area.

Thank you for your opinion, as well Ankerwycke :)
I wanted to make sure I have legitimate concerns before I say no to using my stable.

I would not like it. In summer my horse is out 24/7 but all the rubber matting/bedding/buckets stay inside the stable. I tack up in there when it is raining. Especially as you will still be paying the same price..

Ide wouldnt personally accept it as you pay for sole use of it, it yours, would you mind if an estate agent you were renting a house off allowed someone else to stay in it while you were away for the night!
What if god forbid your horse has an accident and needs to box rested but its not available?

.

I would say these are perfectly good reasons for saying no. At the very least the YO should waive your rent for that week.

There was a thread on here where someone else was saying this happens at their yard, but they knew about it before they went on the yard, so its a tad different.

I think its very cheeky of the YOs TBH. They must get free tickets or something!

No, I wouldn't like it and to be honest even if the YO reduced my bill I still wouldn't be happy.
At the end I the day it's not my yard or stable so if the YO put their foot down I'm not sure how much say I'd have over it but I would be really peeved.
I have a real bug bear about people using my stuff an I see my stable as one of those things...i keep my stable clean and tidy, my horses stuff is in and around that stable and all that would have to be moved if it was to be lent out.
What happens if you need the stable or the visiting horse/groom damage the stable what happens to your deposit, how quickly would I be fixed?
What if they want a different bedding to what you use, will you have to take your bed up?
Don't even get me started on the risk of virus's, diseases etc etc.
Yes I have OCD!!

I wouldn't be happy to pay the full livery if someone else was using my stable! knowing my luck id end up needing it for an emergency! she should discount your livery for the time you cant use the stable?!

I kind of feel your pain... In the last fortnight I have turned up early at my yard and found another horse in my stable waiting for the farrier although that horses stable was empty. And clippings from two horses that had been clipped in my stable. To say I was miffed was a bit of an understatement because to my mind there is no reason to use my stable to do these things. I suspect, it may be because I don't muck out until the evening, but they do. Still, it really upset me, especially because I was completely unaware of it happening. However, I sucked it up, its not every day and I know that it is not being done to upset me. I love the yard Im on, the facilities, the people, the hacking... its all perfect and my boy is so happy, and in truth, if I had been asked I would have said yes, its what Im like. So not quite the same, but I think sometimes you need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture, for me the bigger picture is that this person would not do something deliberately to upset me and this yard is by far the best, I have been on ever, and I and my horse are happy.
